05 FX35. In Dash Installation Reccomendations

I have a 2005 FX35 with the orange stock screen and the only real mod I would like to complete is changing out the stock screen for an aftermarket 2 din entertainment unit, OR a carputer.

I have seen some great aftermarket mods on these forums, from in dash units to fully custom carputers. I was wondering if anyone could make recommendations pertaining to products that would work and fit best in the fx. I have confidence in my cosmetic abilities but my wiring and technical abilities need some improvement.

Ideally what I am looking for is a set up that would be relatively self explanatory to complete the wiring process, and I could work out the mounting and installation of the screen/unit.

As far as products, I have been looking at mp3car.com. Are there any products on this website that would be the easiest to install?

I saw this screen and thought it might fit right by cutting out the stock screen part of the bezel. I can't post links but the screen is for sale on mp3car.com, it's called "Direct Duible DIN Screen for 2010 Subaru Outback"

I feel like that screen would fit, if anyone has used this screen before, any input would be greatly appreciated.


I greatly appreciate any help anyone can give me, and I would also entertain any offers for someone completing the wiring and piecing together of the kit for me and selling me a plug and play kit that I would complete the cosmetic work and install myself, just a thought, all information and offers are greatly appreciated!!
 
hey man, just replied to your other post in my thread but def better that you start your own thread like this one to get more input from others too. again like I said in the other thread, you should consider an android tablet, especially if you're looking for the least amount of custom work. a carpc is going to be much much more work and much less reliable and much more complicated

I appreciate the follow ups and the information. I also have the same questions, how do you hook the tablet up to the speakers? Is there a simple way you recommend mounting it all? When you installed your 10.5" in your FX I saw you altered your dash panel, what about the circuit board that is attached to the back of the dash panel? Is it possible for you to maybe assemble me a dash panel that would accommodate a 10" screen? Or alter mine? I would pay for shipping & modification, if interested.

I have decided to take the advice and install an Android tablet.

i will be installing a 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 w/ just a single din pioneer Bluetooth radio.

some questions,

the pioneer radio doesn't have an orange wire, do I just leave the orange wire on the Metra harness loose?

also, there is no solid blue wire on the pioneer harness, should I wire both the solid blue & blue/white wires on the Metra harness to the blue/white wire on the pioneer?

last, should I wire both the solid black wire & the black/white wire on the Metra harness to the black ground wire and then wire a ground wire to all three wires and ground it?


thanks a lot for the help, I will be sure to post pics throughout the entire process, as this will be my first install of a car radio, let alone a tablet and custom Dremel work, lol, so wish me luck!!!
 
both the metra harness and the pioneer radio will have wiring specs included. I don't have any way of knowing what each wire is for. the orange may be battery power/memory and the pioneer may only have an ignition because it has built in memory? solid blue vs blue/white, again I can only guess but sounds like amp turn on/power antenna feed?. black and black/white may be grounds, but again, without the actual specifics of both can't really say for sure.
