'05 Fx35 Burnt smell in cabin at red light

Recently had the oil changed, transmission fluids replaced, and after being told the smell was from a tiny leak in the valve cover gasket dripping down to the manifold, I've had that replace also (both side). Now occasionally, at a red light it would smell again and sometime strong enough that I would have to roll down the window to vent it out a bit. Any ideas? I'm thinking the pcv valve next? Thanks in advance for any input
 
Well can you confirm that the dripping stop after the gasket change? If so, you may want to clean out any oil around the area to help it dry up quicker.
 
Do you have your A/C on recirculate or bring in outside air? Seems weird that you'd get a funky smell and have to roll down your windows. I find that it's the opposite, although if you're taking in outside air then it would make sense.
 
Sorry, I would check myself but the weather have been in the 20F lately, and I have not been able to check up on it because I don't have a garage either, I turn the A/C off if it's not raining, and i run it at 72-74F not too hot. I'm sure it's not from the car up front because most of the time I am the first car at the light. The smell is like the burning oil from the valve cover. Thanks for the reply guys
 
I know that if you have the A/C off it reverts to bringing in fresh air from outside. You can override this, or at least in mine you can, by turning the A/C off, then the whole thing off, and then selecting recirculate. If you want air, you can hit the + for fan speed and it should come on with recirculated air but no A/C. If you had the A/C on when you tried this I think it will turn the A/C on when you hit recirculate.
 
I find the whole HVAC controls to be very annoying. I should be able to run in recirc w/o the AC coming on. Instead, I have to shut it all down, hit recirc and then turn the fans back on again.

I went back to the dealer for a check up, the mechanic found a cracked tps gasket, replaced it and I haven't smell any burnt odor since, it's been about a week with the same routine/driving.
