04 FX45 basic build, with a few swap questions

I have been lurking on the site for while now searching and learning all I can about my 04 FX45. It's definitely a fun car, so I naturally have gravitated towards the "what's next" list. I have a basic KISS "keep it simple stupid" list. I plan on going with the GTR square 10.5 setup, coilovers, custom exhaust, basic custom intake, and engine swap. Which brings me to my question. I have searched, but not actually found a person who has successfully swapped a gen 2 vk into a first gen. I know it's possible, some small differences, but possible. Would I need to swap the ecu, wiring harness etc? I am looking at a salvage 08 fx45 for engine, trans, seats, etc. Should I keep searching for a first gen donor?

The 2008 FX45 has the same engine as your 2004 FX45 (the second generation VK engine is a VK50). I don't believe anyone has swapped a VK50 into a first gen.

The differences between your 2004 VK45 and the VK45 from a 2008 are minimal. The swap should be straight forward, you won't need to swap harnesses.
 
Poor description on my part on the 2nd gen, I meant the (06-08) vk45. Looks like I'm heading to Copart to fully inspect a donor!
