03-05 vs 06-08 Exhaust - What's the difference?

My OEM exhaust on my 07 FX35 has rusted off at the flange like many others.

I'm trying to look at replacement options that do not require hacking/slashing.

Aside from OEM, I have only been able to find 2 bolt-on mufflers 1) Bosal and 2) HKS . However, both of these companies only offer a bolt-on muffler for the 03-05 FX35.

What is the difference between the 03-05 that makes it unsuitable for my 07? Is there an easy work around?

I know everyone loves their Invidia, but I'm not in a position right now to spend $1000+ on a full catback.

My only option right now seems to be another OEM muffler for about $500 which is not only steep but I figure will only last me 5 years like this current one.

It's possible that the system came out in 2005 and they just never bothered to update the years since most companies don't really care about the FX. It should work no problems though.

You could also pick up a used OEM exhaust for cheap probably.

Any reason why there was a part # change or did they just feel like it?I noticed both Bosal and OEM have 2 different part #s for the different years. IE. Infiniti 03-05 is 20100CG000 vs 06-08 is 20100CL000 . If they are indeed identical as you say, it makes my life a lot easier.

Hmm they may have very slight changes but not enough to cause any issues. Maybe they just changed part numbers for the slight redesign in 2006.

If everything goes well I should be installing my Invidia’s early next week. Not sure if you would be interested in my used OEM system but if you are let me know.
