Damn guess ill have to take it back to the shop that installed it then. How come the car isn't acting weird or have any smells of extra loud noise if its leaking?

Sometimes they do that to avoid the O2 sensor. My beater truck's aftermarket piping starts 1'-2' behind the cat. in that 1'-2' is the O2 sensor. It's debatable I'm sure, but I guess ther's potential sensor issues if you expand the pipe size.
I highly doubt thats the reason. the sensors are on the cat and the headers. The megan y pipe has the same diameter at the cats but at the part where the 2 exhaust meet up, its a true 3 inch. personally i would think putting in a true 2.5 - 3 inch output y pipe would reduce the sound at lower rpms.
Not sure why i came up with that theory but my brain thinks so lol.
