I have a 2005 FX with appx 130,000 miles.

Does anyone know if this issue is in a recall campaign?

I went to a transmission shop and he wants to replace transmission and radiator (even though radiator is okay but he won't warranty job unless I do) and wants to charge me 4800. Have others went this route and did it solve problem and did you pay that much? Thank you in advance! Hard being female and knowing nothing about cars and, the worst, not knowing if you're being told the truth or paying for extra work that really wasn't necessary.

No recall that I can think of for the problem you're having.
I never heard of any transmission job require you to replace the radiator at the same time. I smell scam here.

Does your Service Engine Soon light lit up with all the other lights? If it does and you're able to drive to an Autozone and have them scan for trouble code. Most auto parts store will scan the trouble code for you nowadays. They also will suggest what sensor you need if that's all it needs.

Welcome to the site!
Now run far away from that trans shop and get another opinion. I hope he's looking to add a trans cooler (radiator for the transmission)... Not an actual radiator radiator.
The sensors do make sense. Common replacement and easy fix if that's it.
Find out more, or describe more about the problem here.

Thanks so much! Yes, the SVC Engine Soon light came on – I think everything was available to light up came on. Then would lose power and fortunately was able to coast into a parking lot. I'm just thankful I had my car towed back home from transmission shop and did not go the $4800 route w new tranny and radiator.

Hmm, if you don't know anyone has a scanner tool, you can get a $70 one from Harbor Freight Tools and scan for the trouble code for yourself and buy the sensor to replace it yourself.

Throttle body for FX
Cam sensor bank 1
Cam sensor bank 2

If you want to do it yourself........:) (1st gen FX?)

My 04 FX35 with 124,500 miles literally just died this week while driving at about 50. Everything dead. Freaked me out because I've never had anything like that happen with a vehicle. Got it restarted but SES, VDS and Slip light were on. Got vehicle to work and parked it for about 6 hours. Restarted it and only the SES light was on. Went to Pep Boys to get the code read, which was P0340 camshaft position sensor. Bought new BWD (BORG WARNER) sensors for both sides of the engine. Also bought new crankshaft sensor figuring I would proactively replace them all simultaneously. About $200 for all three. Relatively easy DIY although the camshaft sensors are a little challenging to access. About 1.5 hrs to install both camshaft sensors and about another hour for the crankshaft sensor. Most of that time is removing stuff to get to the sensors. Disconnected negative battery cable before work and when i reconnected and started the vehicle the SES light was out. Drove it twice so far and all good! No SES light, etc.
