2nd gen BBK upgrade: KIDO, AP Racing by Stillen, FX50 Akebono, D2 racing

The shield in my opinion is not needed. But if you insists, you can get the FX50 factory one. How you feel about the shield with your 1st Gen BBK setup?

I never even paid attention end to that when I got them installed. I don't think the guy even bothered replacing the shield and just left it how it was

Just cut or trim off the bent on your existing shield when you install larger rotors.

I might do that or I might just get the fx50 shields once I find the part numbers. Don't know if they will be expensive

Does someone know the exact rotors to upgrade to the fx50 akebono sports brakes? And also the pads I think I'm just going to go with the stop tech rotors since autoanything has them for 25% off

I meant the number don't know if the fx50 rotors are different for the sports package

FX50 front rotors are the same as G37/370Z that use the Akebono calipers. The rear rotors are different because of the parking brake. I think I bought my rotors and they were listed as fitting all of the above.

Quick question for the people that have gone from the stock brakes to the akebono sport calipers. Do I have to get new pins and clips for the brakes. I want to find out before I go get them installed within a week or two.

yes you will need the hardware seperately from nissan.

I have the hardware that's for the pads and stuff I'm just wondering if the pins and clips also need to be changed. Infiniti just gave me the hardware for the pads.

OEM pads come with the clips for the pins, If you have aftermarket pads you will need the pins and clips to install

shorter banjo bolts too if you are not converting to the steel line set up

Ok thanks guess I need to get the pins and clips then bc I'm going with the stop tech pads since they come with the stop tech rotors and the stainless steel lines

Is there a particular part number for those things? If so what is it?

I had a heck of a hard time getting the Stoptech Stainless Steel Braided line banjo bolts to work even though the lines are made for the Akebonos.
It's been a while since I did this mod, but the bolts were (like) 2 mm too long. So, I used a drill to trim and cleaned the bolts.

Here is a conversation about it:

so if I buy Fx50 stainless steel braided lines on my akebonos (not yet on my fx35) can I use stock banjo bolts or are they included? Im a bit lost

The stock banjo bolts that come with the Akebonos can only be used with their own OEM steel lines. The bolts are not interchangeable between the stainless and OEM. By the way, the FX50 OEM steel lines have different mount points on the FX50 strut vs FX35. I tried to make the FX50 OEM lines work on my FX37, but it was such a hassle.

I would test fit the stainless lines before mounting the Akebonos. Some have said that the banjo bolts that come with with their stainless lines fit properly, while others have reported that they needed shorter bolts. In my case, I needed shorter bolts. Yes, I bought stainless lines specifically made for FX50 Akebonos. :grumpy:
