I can't speak on opticoat as I haven't used their product but hopefully someone can chime in who has used it. All I know is opticoat doesn't have a lifetime warranty that's why I chose ceramic pro.
Considering this for mine. My detailer said the Gold package is the best bet, platinum includes interior which I don't need on account of the dealer giving me the 7 year interior/exterior protection warranty. Gold is:

Still debating but I'm about 90% certain I'm going to go with it. I just wish the car hadn't come from the dealer with swirls, would have saved me on the cost a bit here. Will be good to get it all corrected and not have to worry about waxing ever again. RIP - what do you do for upkeep besides wash? Just go over with a quick detail spray to bring up the shine? Anything beyond that required? Will you still clay it regularly?

$1500 is not bad, every shop has different prices for some reason. If you get the gold package you are set for the life of the vehicle. No more clay, wax or polish is needed. Only thing that is optional but worth it for upkeep is Ceramic pro sport which runs $70 a bottle. It's like a detail spray that you can use after washes. You can use it after every wash but I only use it once a month. It keeps the paint extra shiny and hydrophobic. Here's a little more info:

Gotcha - thanks. Where do you buy this from, your detailer? $70 is a bit steep but I'm assuming it's not a lot of product used each time since instructions suggest you apply this while drying the vehicle.
In lieu of this, do you think there would be any concern with using Z-6 or Z-8 for shine upkeep post wash instead? I know you're a big fan of Zaino, how does the shine look to you now that you've had it a few months compared to a full Zaino treatment? My detailer suggested the 9H looks a bit glossier than Zaino.

I love Zaino but it does not compare to Ceramic pro. In my opinion the shine of ceramic pro is definitely better than Zaino hands down especially on darker colors. Plus the antiscratch/hydrophobic properties and lifetime warranty make ceramic pro worth it over Zaino. My detailer said you can use Z8 but he recommended the sport detail spray as it improves coating characteristics. The sport detail spray you can buy from your detailer as well.

I would love to have this done as well. My main issue is I have a bunch of chips on the front end. Not noticeable at a distance but I'd prefer to have them fixed before applying the coating. I may try to repair them myself but I fear a repaint will be the only real way to go.
Clear bra would have minimized the stone chips.
Last question before I schedule this. Does the Ceramic Pro swirl just as a regular clear coat would? The way my detailer described it said that basically the Ceramic Pro once cured forms what is similar enough to a glass coating on the existing clear. Now I'm guessing this coating can swirl in the same manner as a regular clear, but the benefit being that your actual clear coat isn't damaged with the swirls. Therefore, removing the coating with a machine polish (if selling the vehicle, say) would just bring up the clear underneath which should be swirl free?
Actually you won't really see minor swirls with ceramic pro as you do with a normal clear coat. It's been a few months now since I applied ceramic pro and I don't see no swirl marks at all. But yes if one day you decide to remove the coating the clear coat underneath would be in perfect show room condition just as long there hasn't been severe damage like a very deep scratch or ding.

I had amazing results with my wife's old EX35 had it treated with Opticoat 2.0 but in a couple of month i will consider having either Opticoat or Cquartz on the newly acquired 2012 FX35 with barely 25,000km (15,000 miles)
Opticoat would last longer but Cquartz gives you a deeper glossier more depth (wet look) especially on a dark color...at one of the best local detailer in Montreal

Although I did not ceramic coat my QX70s when i bought it , I decided to have it done this year as it is continually on dirt roads and the vehicle rarely gets washed . A detailer in the nearest large town did the paint, glass, mag wheels , interior and leather in Gtechnig Ultra for $1650 aud with a 9year warranty. The vehicle rego is blanked out as it sports 20mm H&R bolt-on spacers on the front and 25mm H&R bolt-on spacers on the rear( illegal in AU).
