Disable safety key release from shifter?

I'm looking to see how I can disable the feature that keeps my key in the ignition if the lever on the shifter is pushed down. I want to replace my shifter but I really dislike push button shifters. I was thinking about drilling a small hole and slipping a pin or something there to hold the lever down so I can shift from gear to gear. I need to know how to disable the feature that keeps my key locked in the ignition.

Please, can somebody help? I have seen a lot of awesome mods on here and I'm sure somebody has as much dislike for this feature as myself.

Update : Fixed!! threw my nrg on there and feels great.

When I had my G35 Sedan I took a nismo Ti knob and threaded the shifter to hold the knob! Once knob was screwed on it kept button pushed down.
