Custom headlights

Had some custom headlight work done this past weekend. I had the chrome housing painted a flat black and the projector shrouds painted black chrome. I'm loving it. I had this mod done on my Nismo 370z last year and loved it as well. Thanks to Michael at Houston Halos! My goal was to make the FX look even more aggressive, especially now that I have that nice sounding Ark Grip exhaust.

Awesome looking mod.. I've been contemplating on doing the same except I know that will void the factory warranty; and these custom jobs only come with 1yr warranty from the shop that does it, so you're SOL after that in case something stops working. Do you know if those are plazma halos? How long did it take to get it done? do you mind sharing what it cost?

I tried looking to see if they were plasma halos but wasn't sure. They are the Morimoto XB LEDs and are known to be the best ones on the market. It took him about 6 to 8 hours total at a price of $650 total. That included bumper removal, headlight dissembly, custom painting with sanding, LED strip, Halos, 2 new 5100k D2S bulbs to match, and reassembly. The ones on the 370z were Oracle, but he's had a lot of reliability issues with that brand and chooses the Morimotos as they're more reliable in his experience. I wouldn't be worried about factory warranty. This guy knows what he's doing; he uses switchbacks and triple checks connections before reassembly. The only thing that would fail would be the custom lights themselves if anything were to go wrong. He also gives one the option of how you want them to run. Plus, he can add "demon eyes" which change color if one wants that. I even had the option of him drilling individual holes into the bottom of the housing to add individual LEDs that follow the curvature of the headlight. Did I mention that his work is very professional? lol. He also does this on a ton of 370z, 350z, Gs and several GTRs in the Houston area. Warranty-wise, the parts have a 3 year to lifetime warranty depending on the part. I'll ask him about labor.

Now I only gotta drive down to Austin! lol Sounds like a decent place to get the mod. I do that for my bikes, projectors and halos, and I'm pretty ok with wiring things. There are a few of those shops in Toronto but I don't trust them after seeing the state of their messy shops. There's another one in NYC (ONEighty) that a lot of people on this forum have done theirs through. I visit NYC a few times a year so maybe I'd have to get it done there. I have to do some reading and see how their work quality holds up. Thanks again :)

The guy who did this is based in Houston. lol. Houston Halos. He has a Facebook and Instagram page. ONEighty is pretty good too. A lot of people on the 370z forums use him.
