Wheel Width and Tire Size opinions

I found some wheels locally that I really like and they are really well priced. Have some blemishes like clear peeling and they aren't the color I would like them to be so I am taking them up as a summer project really.

Wheels are 2- 20x8.5 35 offset, and 2-20x10 20 offset. Now I have a AWD FX and I am not sure about running staggered. I know alot of guys on here do it and it's not a big deal. I was just wondering if difference between 8.5" with and 10" is too much? I didn't see anyone with those widths, only 9"+ with 10".

Second question is regarding tires. I know I can run 265/50/20 all around on there, but it might be bulging on the front, and stretched in the back. What would you guys recommend for this setup? Would you suggest a staggered tire setup as well? Same as people are running on the GTR wheels? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks
 
Width makes no difference. you can run a 8" wide up front and a 13" wide in the rear.

You just have to make sure the rolling diameter of the tires is the same (or very, very close).
 
The width difference is fine, plenty of people run 22x9 and 22x10.5 which is the same 1.5" difference (I did this for years). You can run a 265/50 in front and 295/45 in rear. Both will be slightly bulged, but it will match.
 
thanks for the info guys.

I am thinking of using paint remover and getting all the paint of the wheels. Then sanding them for the brushed aluminum look. Has anyone done this before? I am not sure if I should clear coat over it after, I don't know what the process is for bare aluminum.
 
You should clear it unless you want it to oxidize. Raw aluminum doesn't stay pretty for long when exposed to elements. Most of the custom wheels with brushed finishes are clear coated.
 
I was thinking of clear coat as well, but I read it's not the same clear coat as you would apply onto paint. It has to be specifically for exposed metal. I never dealt with it so that's why I am asking if anyone has done something similar. I am not taking these wheels to the shop to get them refinished, this is gonna be strictly built on budget and DIYs
 
I've had bare aluminum cleared in the past, but that was when a friend owned a body shop. I have no idea what he did. However, I just googled it, and they make spray clear that is meant for bare aluminum. It looks like it's made by Eastwood.

They can also powercoat clear, but that would probably blow your budget. You can also try DIY anodizing - that's a pretty hardcore DIY, but it's an option.

yea I just found the eastwood as well, I will try and find some reviews on it and try to get some locally.

I am not familiar with anodizing at all, I will search it up and see what's all involved.
