Awd fuse

Can anybody confirm if there is a fuse for the awd on the 2nd gen? Assuming there is one, would it theoretically be possible to install a switch in line with that fuse to be able to switch between awd and rwd on demand?

Thanks guys!

*** oh no! Sorry I posted this in the 1st gen section by accident. Can I move this myself??

I'm glad you posted this link because I couldn't find anything regarding the Yaw sensor on this site. Now I'm thinking my problem is a lot simpler. My brake pads in the rear happen to be very low, which I think is directly related to the slip light going on even with VDC off. Rather than start messing with electronics at this time, I'm gonna throw some fresh pads in there and see if it will fix my evasive TC when I'm on track

There's a thread on this already.. a search of "AWD fuse" brought it up.

Still not sure if there fuse trick works. I never found the AWD SOL fuse on my 2nd gen.

That's the thing, I saw the thread too but it's for 1st gen.

Kanedean's link to G35's forum looks promising. I will have to look under the hood and see if we have the same fuses as the G35x.

"Hello to everyone on g35Driver.com
I was following this DIY to make my 'X' RWD.
To make it short, I found (due to faulty messing with wires) that there is a FUSE called ETS that makes g35X (2007-2008) an RWD.

ETS fuse is located next to battery (in battery compartment, under the hood).

The effect of unplugged fuse is that AWD light comes up, and car is fully RWD.
DTC is still working (you can turn it off), and you can do nice power slides (especially in wet).

After plugging fuse, everything is back to normal (after engine turn off).

Use at your own risk.... but for your own FUN"

So I confirm that the 2nd gens have an "ETS" fuse in the fusebox that is located next to the battery. I removed it, awd light lights up and I can now spin the wheels ;)

I then put the fuse back in and awd light turned off, back to awd mode! Now I only have to figure out a way to run a wire from the cabin to the fusebox to be able to toggle it on and off :D

Is there no consequence to doing this?

There doesn't seem to be any. A member from the G35 forum also said the same thing. Seems like this fuse only enables the activation of the awd system. No fuse, no awd.

Unless burning rubber qualifies as a consequence. ;)

I don't see why it would. Your awd is deactivated when going fast enough anyways. Removing the fuse only stops it from activating in the first place.

On the other hand, your traction control computer will be setup for an awd car. So in the even of a wheel slip, it will send signals to activate awd at higher speeds and because the fuse is out, nothing will happen. In other words it could be bad for safety. That's why I'd like to add a switch in the cabin that controls that fuse so I can turn it on and off on demand.
