Getting ready to part with my 2003 FX35

2003 FX35
Well, I'm getting ready to move to a newer car, and right now the 2 leaders are another FX3x series or a Subaru Outback. Nothing else really seems to wind my watch. I have 211,000 miles on the old buggy and I almost think I'd be an idiot to not get another one, as in 12 years I've really spent minimal money keeping it running (and can nearly take it apart in the dark). But I also don't think I can trust it to take it on a cross country trip anymore. Does anyone have any major issues and disappointments with the more recent years? Rather than springing for a brand new QX, I'd more likely look for a 2-3 year old lease return or trade with low miles. Probably save me $10-15K. The 45 series doesn't really interest me because of the mileage penalty, but I also won't be laying on the miles like I did in the past. What think? And what does someone do with a 200K+ vehicle anyway? Any input appreciated, thanks.

The FX is gone now. Made a trade for a 2015 Outback after taking several rides in newer FX35's and 7's as potential replacements. 12 years was a good run, great car, but if I just bought the same thing again, where's the fun in that? Should make a nice traveler, and if gas goes to $5+ again, I think I'll appreciate the 4-banger. I hope the forum at SubaruOutback.org is just as helpful as this one has been. This forum saved me a lot of money.

Sad to see it go, but congrats on your new Subaru. Now go make some new memories!

I have had two 2005 FX 35 with sport package and loved them both, but just sold a lexus is f (did not like it) and purchased a 2011 fx35 with deluxe touring packange and could not be happier. It is alot more refinded and comfortable. I also bought a g37s muffler to give it that vq growl.

good luck

Thanks to all. Traded the FX and my 2002 Ford Escape with 25 years and 380,000 miles between them. Nice to be down to one car. Don't have to worry about accidents in the driveway!

Now I just need to sell off the extra set of 2009 OEM rims and tires I bought to cure my wheel rot problems.
