I painted my stock 21's.

So thanks to the winter and New York City's potholes I bent all four of my 24's hitting one big pot hole which stretched across the entire lane of the highway I was driving on. Back to the stock 21's for now but I couldn't go from custom painted 24's to stock 21's with no customization. So I decided to paint the stock 21's myself. I painted them dark metallic copper because I wanted to try and match the Java colored leather interior as opposed to doing a color that would match the exterior. Two days of sanding, priming, and spray painting and in my opinion they came out great. I love the color, they look dull and matte colored in the shade but when the sunlight hits them you can see the metallic flake glisten. I also painted the center caps gloss black and when I get a chance I'm going to sand and prime the top of the lug nuts and paint them black also. Here are some teaser pics of the work in progress and the finished product. I was trying to capture the metallic flake in the sun in one of the pictures but it's really sudle, which I like, so I couldn't catch it. As soon as she's washed and waxed I'll post photos of them mounted.

Awe man that really sucks! I'm sure those wheels weren't cheap either!

The wheels came out great, though. Looks professionally done. Now let's see some shots with them mounted!

Gotta say rattle can paint has came a long way. They looks like a professional job. Nice job. :good:

Looks good. Did you get any paint on the tires at all?
If not, what was your trick for taping them, did you deflate the tires?

interesting color....let' see them on the car

also, 24's in the winter?!? you should know better in NYC! haha....

Sorry bout the dubs, but the 21's are gonna be better for everything. Color looks hot

They look great, as the others said, let's see them installed.

Neva, shoot me a pm if you didnt find a spot to get them fixed. I have a good friend that owns Long islands largest wheel repair. If you're rolling with 22 (like me) or larger you gotta make friends with people in the wheels biz lol

Thanks. Yes rattle cans have come a long way. I was pleasantly surprised at how powerful and spread the nozzle on the can sprayed. I had to take my time to avoid runs.

Thanks. No paint on the tires whatsoever. I took painters tape and tucked it down in between the lip and the tire and then used a round tipped plastic pry tool like the type used to pry apart an interior dashboard to press the tape down in between the lip and tire. The pry tool made it easy to press down hard and smoothly. Since it's plastic no damage to the rim and tight seal acheved. Don't tuck it to far because then it a pain to remove. I had to pull it gently and wiggle it back and forth when it came time to remove it. The rest of the wheel is covered in heavy duty plastic garbage bag and draped across to meet the tape on both sides. I wouldn't recommend removing the tires unless you have a professional style set up where you can hang the rim suspended in mid air like they do in most shops. Having the tires on made it easier to reach spots that weren't getting coated as easily because I was able to roll the wheel and spray it to get in the cracks that needed heavy spraying without staying in one spot long enough to create runs.

Yeah leaving them on was pure laziness but I was ready for a change anyway. The 24's were more the type of wheels for show anyway. 12 Allen screws per wheel just to get the center cap off because of the custom plastic inserts. I was getting tired of that. I forgot how good the car drives without the extra weight. I love this color so much I'm leaving the stocks on for a while.

I love the door knob. It came out great :)

Thanks. Will do. I have wheel guy in Queens that is excellent but it always good to have multiple connects. I'm probably not going to fix them though. For the price to straighten all four then have them powdered or painted, which I would let the shop do if they already have them, I'd be better off buying new rims. Especially since a rim is never as strong as it originally was once it gets heated to be straightened.

Thanks. I actually hated the style of these before but I love the new color so much I like them more than the 24's also. I love the fact that they look matte even in daylight until the sun hit them and the metallic flake shows.
