Hi everyone, thanks for any responses in advance - 2004 FX35 with 83k miles. No lights on in the dash

My battery died last night after I was listening to music, got jumped, and was on my way. This morning It started up, and after first errand, started and died immediately. I started it back up and gave it a hard rev and it idled fine and I was on my way. This continued to happen in my morning errands.

No worries Ill just replace the battery, was meaning to anyway. Replaced battery. Boom, problem persists. In 10 starts every third time it will stay on, the other 2/3 times it will need a HARD rev to 5k RPMS to stay on. Driving after that, everything is fine. Any ideas?

Funny my wife's 2004 murano was at body shop getting repaired and was doing exact same thing. It had a check engine code I believe of p0506 which was low idle problem. One of the causes is when you disconnect the battery.

The body shop said they had the battery uninstalled for 4 days. They ended up taking the car back n reprogramming it somehow to get it working right again. He said old nissans had that problem I guess Infiniti also

I'm not sure what he did to fix it but he did mention if we left car running for 3-4 hours it would fix itself. We don't have a garage n didn't wanna do that on regular street that's why he took it back in and now it's fine.

Thanks for your reply, that's really interesting.I did 15-20 minutes at a time today. Will see if my hour commute fixes it tomorrow morning. I guess will try the 3-4 at night. Only thing is I have not been throwing any codes despite this problem. Thanks again

Personally i would not leave my car on for 3-4 hours but if you do make sure you go on a long drive on the highway and open it up real well safely that is..

I did it on mine when I changed the air intake, specifically the Throttle Valve and Idle Air Volume Learning. It might take a couple tries to get the timing right, but it's easy enough.

So i tried it, but when I do the hard press, right at around the 7-10 second mark the engine releases and quits throttling (even though pedal is depressed). I can release and press again and everything is fine - but I cant get the CEL light to come on

Are you starting the car? Or are you putting it to "on"?? On I believe will put on the dash lights... Not start the car.

Thanks for the offer! I am going to drive it tomorrow and see what happens - First ECU reset seemed to work the few times I tried it, and then I did the rest of the resets and the problem persisted. Will drive tomorrow and see what happens and then maybe clean MAF next? Have you done that before? I feel like since this started with the battery it has to be ECU so will try it a few more times tomorrow. Thanks again for your offer, I'm in the hills off of Laurel Canyon, ill PM you.

if you need help i can helo you im in the Hollywood area

I have not, and this is my next step - i am inclined not to think this is the issue, though, as it started with the battery dying and had no issue with idle beforehand - thx for you response. is there a good DIY for cleaning it? I hear it is tricky and easy to break...

There is no DIY, just take it out by disconnecting the electrical connector, loosen the 4 Allen bolts (careful not to lose the metal gasket), spray brake cleaner or mass air flow sensor cleaner and wipe the interior and the butterfly clean. Open the butterfly valve gently/slowly and clean around it. Reinstall.
