Problem with windshield replacement

I think the windshield was installed too low and there's a gap at the top. I can feel the edge of the glass, the gasket is uneven, and they painted a black stripe on the roof to hide it. Can someone please post a picture of their 2009 FX at the same angle so I can compare?

I would bring it back. Especially if they painted something that wasn't there before.

That is definitely not right. You should not be able to see the edge of the windshield.

Wow that looks horrible. That is def installed wrong plus I don't know why they would use paint. Here is a pic on my FX

That is definitely not correct. Do not accept that.

Thanks, guys. I figured as much and it helps a lot to have original pictures to compare. They're a large US glass installer and I'll give them one chance to fix everything tomorrow while I watch.

Hopefully they didn't scratch your paint because there is no reason to use paint

I agree and I am dreading tomorrow. There are few things worse than taking care of your car then paying someone to ruin it.

Thats a horrible job they did and even worse they tried to cover it up. I would've pimp slap somebody... all jokes aside though whoever did that shouldn't be working there.

I had a windshield replaced in my 09 FX35 and I requested an OEM replacement glass and it was perfect. It was done by a small shop in my town.

Safelite removed the windshield, had a body shop strip and repaint the area, then installed another windshield. It's still not perfect but it's better than it was before. I'm not sure why they had so much trouble with an Infiniti windshield but I won't be using them again.

At least the three days in the VW Golf rental car made me fully appreciate my FX again.

Safelite is a franchise, so whether or not they do a good job is highly dependent on the region. Supposedly they have computerized alignment and all that fancy stuff. Looking at your original pictures, they could have done a better job lining it up blindfolded.

Keep an eye on the seals and listen for wind noise. I've heard of issues down the line with Safelite where a seal blew out or was leaky.

^agreed. I had a couple of very good experiences with Safelite and one terrible experience.
