Hello Fellows,
Just want to hear your opinion on some problem I have.
I recently upgraded my FX35 brakes with FX50's Akebono set with Stoptech sloted sport rotors.
I run Project Mu pads in the front and rear, and after 1 week of usage rear ones started to sqeak so bad So it became annoying, front ones are just fine.
Do you think this is a pads vs rotors issue or smth else? (low brake fluid pressure or etc)

I'm thinking to replace rear ones with Akebono pro act. Did anyones used Pro Acts with Stoptech Rotors? Are they quiet? Thanks for your advices

THE Akebono pro act ARE VERY QUIET WITH STOP TECH ROTOR'S .I HAVE THEM ON MY FX NO PROBLEMS SO FAR AFTER 3 MONTHS

I have project MU beforce on fronts, and they are amazing and quiet. Can't comment on rears. Wearing Porterfields.
It's a semi performance pad. Does it squeal after its heated up?

i guess my next brake pad setup would be project mu fronts and akebon proacts rear

Gto, how is the stopping power? cold/warm?

The MUs are fantastic. Zebra set me up with them. They're quiet, and the bite is great even when cold. I've seen no fade on the track either in 90 degree weather. IMO they're a miracle pad and best of both worlds

I also can't complaint on stoping power - it's great. But I'm furstrating why rear ones squeal even after 30 minutes of drive.
When I push pedal hard it is 100% quite, but when I do light rolling stops at stop sign it's just annoying.
I even can feel that sound comes from rear left side, asked my brother to assist me and we are both positive that left rear is the squeal generator. I'm so furstrated fronts are perfect and rear right is great as well, but left ... Agrhhhh!!

I had the same problem even on the stock FX35 brake pads/rotors. Do you use your foot brake often? I stopped using mine and it definitely minimized the squeaking noise.

I use it time to time, but not very often and can't understand how come it may be related to stoping noice.
Anyway will go back to my mechanics to souble check the brake fluid pressure and if needed will get a pro act rear pads, hopefully it will help.

Yes of course, did 5+ hard stops basically followed the common procedure, so will see. Today there was no single noice and they run like charm so I really don't know. If it will happen again will simply replace pads, not a big deal.

Did you put anything between the shims and the back of the pads? I used to get a ridiculous amount of squeal from my brakes also. When I did my breaks recently I used a VERY TINY amount of Napa Sil-Glyde on the back of the pads between the pads and the shims. I have yet to hear any more noise from the brakes. I've heard horror stories about using brake pad grease so when I say I used a tiny amount I'm not joking. I pretty much just lightly coated the area where the shims make contact with the pads using the the tip of my finger. You will most certainly have to wipe the edges around the shim after you do this, so obviously you have to be SUPER careful not get any on the sides or front of the brake pad surface. Sil-Glyde has been great on my motorcycle calipers, I've been using it for years and have yet to see it run or breakdown from heat, weather or time so hopefully it does the same here.

You may just need to get past the break in period for the pads though. From what I've read, it seems like bedding them properly doesn't mean they don't still need time to break in.

Project Mu 400s series.
I changed rear ones to Akebono Pro Act and now everything is ok. I have some noice early mornings during first 1-2 brake pedal pushes (I assume they need to break in) but then it's all silent and stoping power is great.
So it was clearly a pads issue, so no more rear Project Mu pads for me.

That's exactly why I was confused. Front are just great, anyway now everything is ok!

I have the akebono fx50 calipers on my fx35. Going to have to change the pads soon bc I can feel that they are going. Don't know if I should just go with the stock pads or some other ones.

I have used two types, currently with HAWK Performance Ceramic and used to have EBC Red Stuff. The EBCs were better than the HAWKs as far as performance is concerned, the HAWKS way better than stock. The EBCs had LOTS of bite to them, almost no dust but wear was a little so-so. That being said I went with the HAWKs this time and although there is a noticeable difference in performance the wear is ridiculously small (as excpected).
