Gauge swapping

I think I saw a few threads on here about people swapping gauge clusters.

I'm having a problem with my g35 gas gauge, which leads me to a bad gauge overall. It isn't a for sure but I wanted to give it a shot.

So now I was going to ask if u guys who replaced it got the specific matching one for ur car... I.e. if ur car had navi, awd. Would u have to get that or could u get a rwd, non-navi.

I ask because the coupe and sedan have roughly same clusters but... Obviously u got a rwd vs awd, navi vs non navi, auto vs manual. I know I need a auto, that's for sure. eBay has so many options the one that fits me is going a lot more then the rwd.

I think the only thing you will have to worry is whenever you have an intelligent cruise control. Other than that, 06-08 cluster will go into 03-05 just fine, except you will have to run extra wire for lightning. At least, those are the concerns when swapping FX cluster for another FX cluster.

So u guys don't worry about awd vs rwd?

This could possibly open up tons of doors. G35 come more in coupes and rwd. Kinda like how most fx are awd.

Honestly, have not pay much attention other then if it standard cruise or intelligence cruise. Have not been in a RWD to see if the AWD indicator is there on the cluster or not.

Rwd cars have the awd indicators. That I've seen and confirmed on plenty.

So what happens if u install a standard cruise cluster on a car with int. Cruise.

Does it still work and just not cruise function? I'm sure someone overlooked this.

Out of the 5 clusters that I have handled, I only installed a intelligence cruise cluster onto a standard cruise car. Cruise function correctly. The owner didn't like how the digital indicator lopsided. Don't know if there going to be a problem with cruise if a standard cluster is installed into a intelligence cruise car.

Just a random thought.... maybe a gas gauge leveling issue?

Been down that road before... Cleaned sensors once, it worked for maybe a day, could of been a spoof. Cleaned again a few months later no results.

Replaced BOTH sensors in tank and it acts better but still not right. It read full correctly by only downs down to 3/5. 3/5= empty.

Hence the last variable is the cluster and wiring. I measured resistance at the sensors, all within specs. Nothing is getting hung up. Ive been driving off miles driven on the odo. But its getting annoying.
