Aluminium Belly Pan

I thought I would put this in this thread rather than the actual group buy thread.

I received a GT-Spec Underpan a little while back and finally got around to trying to install it.

Unfortunately, despite the fact that GT-Spec lists the piece for 03-08 model vehicles, it will not fit my 2008 FX35 AWD. The reason being that the shape of the front bumper is slightly different, the actual line across the front which the belly pan would follow varies, more seriously though, the two bolts in the back on the 03-05 vehicles appear to be about 6" closer together than the bolts on the 06-08 vehicles.

So just want to make sure John knows of this difference, and that it has been accounted for in the different pans. Also anyone with an 06-08 FX don't bother with the GT-Spec Underpan.

I still haven't got around fitting mine as well. Luckely in this case i have the old shizzle lol..... only need to adjust it to my aftermarket front bumper. GT discontinued the pan didn't they ?

Yes, the piece is no longer in production.

I'm going to be getting the FX on a lift next week, and going to see how much fabrication work it would be to mod the piece to fit, from my quick look lining the piece up, I think welding a couple tabs on the back, and just trimming the front a little and it could align quite nice.

Let me know If you decide to sell

I'll get in touch with you after the holidays about it.

Actually maybe you can do me a favour, what does the underneath of your rookie bumper look like? Are the mounting points for the underpan the same as the 03-05 FX bumper?

There are actually no mounting points on the bottom, it has a flat bottom that the shield tucks into , Ill take a pick for you when I get a chance

I test fit the TWB pan on 35ROK's 07 FX45. The front curve is different, and tollboothwilley is making the design modification. What I call "the sexy curve" of the front edge where the pan meets the 03-05 bumper cover is not present on the 06-08's. This throws off the center most mounting holes at the front only. All the remaining mounting holes on his 07 lined up the same as my 03. The 2 locations on the back side lined up fine in my test fit of his 07 45. I don't know how the back on that GT Spec pan had a 6" difference.

Is 35Rok RWD or AWD?

On mine the two holes at the back were out side to side (I mean like they weren't spaced out far enough). Not really sure whats going on now.

I noticed the front curve thing exactly as you did, thats not really that big of a deal for me as I can trim the GT-Spec with a band saw, and just clean it up with an angle grinder. Then just drill some new holes.

I'm gonna need to get my car up on a proper hoist and have a look at the rear mounting points. Even aired all the way up my car was too damn low for me to see anything.

He's rock'n a 45, so AWD.
Easiest thing might be to measure the distance between those back to bolts. This is going to sound dirty, but you measure yours and I'll measure mine and we can compare.
Now I need to take a shower, drink some beer, and watch some football

New bolts are included with the aluminum under trays - however if you have lost clips you should consider the optional hardware kit. It will probably not be needed by most of you, but is available just in case.
