For those with hazy headlights you might want to read this

I noticed the other day my headlights were a little hazy, not as bad as other cars i've seen but still a little hazy. After doing some research i found quite a few products to clean them. So today i got motivated and decided to clean my headlights. Here are some before and after pics. I forgot to take pics of both lights looking hazy but you can see the passenger light is hazy and the drivers light was cleaned. The last pic of course is both lights cleaned

Oh yeah, they were both cleaned with plain ol toothpaste. I know you can put some clear coat on it after but for me i will just clean them every few months if they get hazy. It doesn't even take much toothpaste either and the best part i have toothpaste in my house lol. Just a little bit of info for those who don't want to go out and buy a kit. Hope this helps anyone with hazy headlights

Good info. My old man used to clean and buff his watch with toothpaste too.

I've heard after you clean them or buff them, they get hazy even quicker since there's some UV coating that gets worn off.

I hear the same but that's why some say to use clear coat. Not sure how much of the uv protection was taken off with the toothpaste, but for the price of toothpaste you can always clean them again in a few months if needed. The pictures don't do my headlights justice, they are really clean now

Generally, the cheaper/older toothpastes (like Pepsodent) work the best as well and it is important to note not to use a gel. After cleaning just coat with newer style wax like TurtleWax Ice or TechWax 2.0, easy enough to do and will keep the haze away longer.

Funny thing is polishes have a consistency very similar to toothpaste.

Toothpaste is a polish. More abrasive than you think. Thats why I tell my denture patients not to use it on their dentures as it will dull the finish on the acrylic!

All i know is my headlights look brand new again. Perhaps there are better products out there but i am more than satisfied with how it came out. Super easy to do too
