Original FX Concept

Hey Fellas,

Was just admiring the images of the original 2001 FX Concept. Why do you think Infiniti shied away from this body style?

Don't get me wrong, I love the look of G1. However, this would've really set the FX apart from the rest of the vehicles in this class. I wish they never abandoned the clean lines of the G1. I kind of felt Infiniti got lazy with the 'after-flea-market' looks of the subsequent redesigns.

Personally I prefer the lines of the first gen to the prototype. It was going to be way ahead of its time either way. Cool picture.

I also like the 1st Gen better than the original 2001 FX concept.

In 2003 the production gen-1 was radical enough of a design for the general masses and if I remember correctly was even a little criticized. The concept design is a bit over the top for 2001 or 2003 mainstream and rightfully so. Concept prototypes are supposed to insight wonder and futuristic spectacle.

This 2001 FX Concept is not my style. Glad it didn't made it to production. I'm with pork, at the time the current 1st Gen style was a bit hard to except by a few.

if the original had come out, most of us wouldnt be here and i believe this site would of not existed

Looks like the designer of Nissan Juke submitting his entry.. :eek.:

I would have never even thought about buying the FX if they went with that model.

When I first saw the first gen FX I thought it looked like nothing else on the road. It had an otherworldly quality that caught my attention and admiration. If they had stayed with the concept I don't think I'd be driving one now.

Concept looks like the old body style M (the square one). The concept looks more old fashioned than the actual Gen1. I'm glad they streamlined it before production.

The shape/lines of the G1 Fx are unlike any other

Agreed!

Do you mean the '04 M? Probably one of the reasons I find it appealing. I've always liked that body style.
