Worried about changing gas brand

Hey guys.... So I've been noticing for the past couple of months all BP gas stations near my house are closing down....I've been using 93 octane BP gas since day one that I've purchased the car back in 09 and never used anything other gas ... I'm considering switching over to shell but idk, I'm scared the engine would get messed up or should I continue to go through missions and driving X amount of miles to find a BP to keep pumping the same gas... I come to you guys for advise... Who else better than you guys I've learned everything about my fx from IS the dealers basically BS you... Really would appreciate any feedback thx
 
I've have had my fx 7month. I use both Hess express and shell gas never had any
Issues nor engine performance problems. I try to find newer gas stations cause their storage tanks
Are still new. Less likely to have condensation build up (water) but that might be just in Florida.
Plus I always fill up at half a tank so its never a full shock to the system.
 
U guys put too much thought into this. As long as u stick with a top tier vendor it'd nearly all the same.

Going from BP to shell has no major impact.

Only brand I am adamant about not using is Arco. And plenty of other people obviously have no issue with them. Pump any of the good stuff and move on with the rest of your happy day.
 
Poor Arco, sold out to BP when oil was like $10/barrel. They found Prudhoe Bay, too. I think all that's left of them by name is the crappy gas stations.
 
Thx guys for the input I guess I'll switch to shell next time I need to fill up ... I have a buddy that had a m5 and would pump 93 octane but in any gas station till one day the it crapped on him and dealer diagnosed it was all the variety of gas he was pumping at
 
I use mainly Shell Premium here in Ontario, it's one of the few that don't contain ethanol.

For that I would go out of my way for. That is worth the trouble.

Anyone with small motors knows the trouble of e10. My old carb bike gummed out.

FWIW, all gas comes from the same places. The same pipes will move gas for all companies to their storage/distribution centers. At the storage tanks, that's where they blend the additives and ethanol as needed. So the only difference between gas brands would be the additives.

I'd worry much more about the individual gas station than brand. They're mostly locally owned so it might say Shell but it may be operated by someone scraping by and cutting corners. Old tanks, dirty tanks, etc. would have much more impact than actual brand. At least with Costco, they're all up to the same standard. I've known quite a few gas station owners and a lot of them do the minimum required by law.
 
I know Sunoco buys about 50% of our oil. Not sure where it ends up ultimately, but I think it ends up going towards Houston for refining and then distribution. I like to think it ends up as their race fuels though. :tongue:

Shell all the way

Everyone else I get much less mileage on the same tank of gas

Esso aka mobile has water in their gas
