About to buy a FX37 AWD

I'm about to buy a 2013 FX37 AWD. It has the touring package (rear DVD, quilted seats) and the premium package (navigation, etc). It has 32,000 mi.

Is is there anything I need to be looking for other than the items mentioned in the FAQ Section? When is the first major service, and what can I expect that to cost? Is there anything, service-wise, that I need to be expecting on a car with this mileage?

I'm buying an extended warranty up to 100k miles, so I'm more interested in things that I will have to pay for out of pocket.

I've also found an 2012 FX35 with only 12k miles, but I'm not crazy about the color, it's only 2wd, and it's not as well equipped.

Any advice would be appreciated!!

Thanks!

We have a 2012 FX35, just broke 20,000 miles over the weekend and not one issue to report so far! Everything has been perfect. Spring for the FX37. You get the extra 22 horsepower or something like that plus it sounds nicely equipped. what color combination is it?

Thanks for the response. It's white / tan. I test drove it on Sunday and was pretty blown away.... Should pick it up today or tomorrow.

I would have rather had a black interior, but I couldn't find one that was as nice.

I have a 2012 fx35 w/29k miles. Yeah only issue is the lag and downshift to like 2 which puts you over 6k rpm. When you want to pass, throw it in manual and that baby drives amazing.

Already took it in. They said everything was current. Still does it. Probably just what I'm pushing it to do

Unless I need to specify this update to the dealer??

Make sure your fluid isn't low? If the transmission has been updated, it could be fluid. Low fluid causes horrible lag.

Is there a dipstick for the transmission? I can't seems to find it to check the fluid level.

2nd Gens don't have a dipstick. The transmission is a sealed unit which the owner's manual say the fluid is good for "Lifetime". Whatever "Lifetime" is supposed to mean who knows. You could however pay the dealer to flush out the transmission fluid, which needs to be hooked up to their machine and monitor the temps and stuff. Its more fancy than traditional drain and refill of the non-sealed trannies.

As to whether we should flush the 2nd gen tranny fluids and at what intervals, thats a debate with no definitive/conclusive answer, one of the 2nd gen's X-files.
