I really love the sound of the stock 1st gen coupe and the 1st gen FX exhaust

I recently just traded in my 2006 g35 coupe after 8 years of ownership and picked up my 2011 FX35 about a week ago.

After a week of driving the fx35, i'm really missing the unique stock exhaust tone.
Is there a way to achieve the stock exhaust tone to the 2nd gen fx?

I don't want to buy an ultra loud exhaust or have any drone. I just want it to sound completely stock like the 1st gens.

I used to have HKS exhaust on my 1st gen and I got tired of it.. Love the sexy unique exhaust tone better

I think some members have swapped in a G37s exhaust, which gives a similar type howl.

Someone on here swapped a 1st gen exhaust onto his 2nd gen. I forget his name, but search, it was surprisingly little work to do. Most of it bolted up.

I too am very interested in retaining the 1st gen exhaust sound for my eventual 2nd gen FX.
I believe Jeeta is the member who installed a g37 coupe muffler on his 2nd gen and got the sweet sound
you're looking for.

I had it done and it changes the sound but not a whole lot. Doesn't sound like the 1st gen exactly but way better than stock. Here is my video. I kept it for a couple months and got the ARK, it was too quiet for my liking.

that sounds so much better than stock. it still has that VQ sound.
so you just replaced it with the g37 muffler? i also like your burnt tips, where did you get them from? is it a straight bolt on and does the tips have to be extended?
how much did you pay overall?

was it g37s sedan or sport muffler?

Ya it's just a stock g37s coupe muffler and the tips have to be extended. Other than that it bolts on perfectly. The tips I bought from Motordyne. You can get a used muffler on the g37 forums for around $100 and up.

Do you know if I can use the '08 one? Some guy is selling it for 50. Will the sound be the same for all years?

The muffler is all the same from 08 up but I would go with 09 and up because the 08 muffler has some rattling issues.

Is there a difference between the S and the non S model muffler? Or its the same?

From what I read awhile back when I did mine was that the S has a more aggressive note.

I don't know exactly what the difference is between the two exhausts, but Rip is correct that they do sound different.

I would assume that baffling or some internals of the S muffler are revised to allow a little higher flow.

The sport and non S mufflers also have different part numbers so there is def a difference.
