Good body shop in Greensboro/Raleigh Area - NC

Hello All,

I am not sure if this is the right forum...but I got my 2012 FX 35 skid and hit a pole during the nasty ice/snow storm in NC last week :( :(. The rear quarter panel has to be replaced and I am trying to find some good auto body shop in my area. My adjuster has estimated around 3K using OE parts.

I am not sure if I need to take it to my dealer body shop or an infiniti certified collision which is like 2 hrs from here. I have gotten some word-of-mouth reviews about a body shop called MidTown body repair http://www.midtownbodyrepair.com/default.html and they are also my insurance direct repair shop and my insurance stand by them for any issues - hopefully not!. At this point I am leaning towards them and was planning on dropping my car off on monday. But guess I am getting cold feet now to see if I should shop for more shops like Gerber Collision? Or would I get piece of mind driving two hrs and dropping of in infiniti certified place? Has anyone used any shop around this area or any recommendation?

Also any idea what to look for in that shop? I am short listing them by referral, certification like I-CAN, ASE, lifetime warranty etc. Though the shop is small they assured me they have worked on Infinitis, BMW etc.

Damn that's a really bad area to hit it. Too bad you don't live near me you could of brought it to the shop I used.

My FX was damaged in that same area before during hurricane sandy. Check out my thread:

Just a tip. Make sure the body shop doesn't fill that area with Bondo. A good body shop will replace that panel and weld in a new one. That side will need blending and that glass removed.

If your insurance is direct through the local shop, it should be fine. Unless you have really bad insurance, most shops that insurance companies work with are reputable. I use State Farm and every shop that I've used has been directly through them and I've never had an issue. If they're quoting you $3K, they're not using bondo. No insurance company would allow a quote that high without replacement panels.

Last year my 335 got hit in a parking lot and it was close to $6K and the damage looked lighter than yours. Unfortunately for me, the lady hit both the door and quarter so both had to get new panels.

Aaron,

WOW! Your FX looks stunning!!

The body shop is replacing the panel and weld it. I guess they also are also going to blend that side...but will check with them.

Thanks

Yes the adjuster rightway said it needs be replaced and cant be repaired. Being new car he said he will specify OE parts which is what the body shop is going to use. First time getting a car into a body shop so not sure what to expect or look for at the end!..Its gonna be a long 2 weeks wait :(..My only concern was if its the right place I am taking to...but from the steps they outlined as what they will be doing and what I am hearing it looks like it...

Thanks
