Pathfinder Coolant Kit - anyone heard/used it?

I believe Jumbo did it for his FI build. I've seen it mentioned every now and then but never really gave it a second thought. I did think about it the other day when I noticed my coolant pipes seemed corroded where the hoses overlap and was wondering if the pathfinder mod would replace those parts.

I know a guy who did this to his G that was turbo'd
I have the quote from the parts he purchased with the part numbers
might be cheaper to buy the parts than someone who has packaged it together already

Are you sure they said it would increase power? I think that would be the coolant bypass mod since it removes the coolant lines from intake area. But it also results in slower warm up.

The Pathfinder mod is really only needed (and even then probably not) if you are running a lot of boost on a built motor. Otherwise, it doesn't do anything. All it does is unblock a coolant port in the back of the engine so coolant can maybe flow more evenly. It's a bigger deal if you're running a sleeved block since those can have hot spots due to the closing of the deck. But if you have a standard motor, the coolant is flowing just fine. I don't think there are any datalogs that show lower coolant temps or anything like that.

It's also a bear to install with the motor in. Have to remove a lot of stuff and it's tight back there.

This.

If you have the kinetix V+ you already did the coolant bypass.

I see very little other benefits to the pathfinder mod unless you really plan on working to VQ to its full potential.

I have it also and Jumbo indeed. It is for better cooling towards the rear cylinders. The Pathfinder is also used for heavy dute under low speeds so cooling is a must. I did my research back in the day and find out it is recommended with high HP engines like F/I as FXLR8 says. Have to say........it is a great mod if you have your engine already out of the car. It can be done when the engine is in.....but don't expect it to do within an hour or 2.
