DS Mode Gear Change Issue

I have noticed that my transmission gets 'stuck' in either 4th or 5th gear lately when rolling around in DS mode on auto. This seems to happen only when I punch it. Anyone else having the same issue on the FX50? My rev limiter hits in the stuck gear (dash indicator still shows DS auto mode on) and I have to manually up shift to get to the next gear. Just slightly annoying since it does not happen every time and by 4th or 5th gear on WOT, one may be travelling at a good rate of speed above the speed limit (thus making it difficult to have the dealer make the issue repeat for potential service under warranty).

So if I'm reading this correctly, you're in DS mode and on your cluster it says "DS" not '4' or '5' right? and it won't go into 6th or 7th gear?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think there was a software update that programmed the transmission to act one way in DS mode and another way in full AUTO...maybe that's what he's seeing?

the DS is programmed to stay in gear when you are driving aggressively so it will "stick' sometimes because it's anticipating you to keep driving aggressively, and not get stuck shifting gears when you want the power right away. It's the nature of the DS mode.

Sorry, was away for a few days. Yes, the dash indicates 'DS' and not a specific gear number (I had not manually shifted to take manual control of the tranny)

Huh, I had not realized that...seems odd because it's at or near the redline for normal DS operation. Mayhaps I'd be better served to switch to full manual after running through a few gears after takeoff. Due to the shift lag, I find myself better on DS when taking off from a stop - otherwise I'd be all about the paddle shifting.

It keeps it at high rpm for passing/merging and other "spirited driving". At least mine does. I usually shift myself with the paddles though.

I'd probably use the flappy paddle gear box much more if it had a dual clutch. Shame it doesn't, it'd be so much more fun to punch those gears. I feel like you really have to time your shifts by about 1/2 a second prior to needing the shift in flappy paddle mode...

Has me curious about what it would take to install a dual clutch, and if it could be sourced.

^that's true, but with my tune they adjusted the shifting (anticipated torque?) so it shifts much "better" now. Also moved back my rev limiter...Even more fun to play with now

Ah, gotcha. Would you say the hesitation between gear shifts is significantly reduced with your tune?

....sooo today I tried pushing the car with DS mode and... DAAAYUMM! LOL! I mean I used DS mode before but I usually do the shifting, so I never got to realize the full potential before...now..the car's in DS mode all the time...

Not too significant but more crisp, and more power available at the upshift

for the tune, that's done on the stock ECU right? What things are available to be tuned and adjusted?

DS Mode is better IMHO than the manual shift, takes the guess work away for shifts...well, most of the time.

My FX50 has never been in "D" with me driving - straight to DS or tiptronic. haha

As for the tune, yeah it's the stock ECU
with UpRev you can do the usual tuning stuff, this is what I did:
Adjusted A/F
Removed Rev/Speed Limiter
Removed fuel cutout w/ braking (for "launching")
(Couldn't adjust Ignition timing because the maps UpRev gave us weren't working - which led to them dropping the FX50 for now)
True 100% WOT when you want it
I think you can do a few other things but it's still limited- UpREv doesn't have all the maps for the FX
Also there are things you don't need to do with just exhaust work, etc.that you would adjust with more serious work

(lets not go off topic though ;) )
