Car will not start

2004 FX35 AWD
1st Gen FX35:

I had my battery changed to a yellow top Optima and car was running fine. The following day I took it to Legacy Infiniti dealership for oil change, micro filter cabin replacement and tire rotation. Tried to start car today it, it cranked started, rumbled then stalled. Smoke was coming out of exhaust with a burning smell after it shut off. Car would not start after. Any ideas? Car was running perfect before oil change. PIA, anyways everyone enjoy SuperBowl.
 
None of the work done should cause a starting issue.

Are u saying it won't stay on any more? Or is it not cranking now after that first attempt?

Maybe check to see if there is oil in the engine and nothing obvious is disconnected like a large vac line.

It is giving off a sound as if you were cranking the car too long when I turn the key. It no longer starts.
 
What color was the smoke? Burnt smell like oil/gas or sort of rotten smell?

How do I check for oil in engine? Thank you
 
Use the dipstick to check for amount, although it can be hard to get a good reading. Any obvious oil leaks underneath? I'm guessing it ran fine after you left the dealer.
 
To me it sounds like a fuel leak. Wether your fuel pump failed, you have a leak, and not enough pressure for gas to get to the crank/ spark.

Ive been having a difficult time getting a good reading with dipstick. No oil underneath the car.

This would happen after car was running perfectly the day before at dealer? And yes I took it from dealer drove it back home to NJ (45 miles) then parked it.
 
Did you check the battery as well to make sure it's fine? Might as well check any work done recently, as well as general stuff.

Connections look solid on battery but I will slide the + - connections further down and re tighten.
 
Thanks all for the help. The coolant line was pinched. Dealer probably installed oil filter by reaching through engine bay and hit coolant line.
 
Wow that's crazy. Glad you found the problem and it turned out to be just that. Hope you'll let them know about that?
 
Hmmm, interesting. Anyone have insights why a pinched coolant line would prevent the car from stay running? I would think overheating will be the issue once the engine is warmed up. I can't see how this would "cranked started, rumbled then stalled" as stated by OP.
 
Yeah, a pinched coolant line could cause limp mode because of overheating, but that is weird the car wouldn't start.
 
If it's a cold night and you're cruising, it's possible. On my old car, it happened to me when I installed a new coolant overflow tank - because showcar. Did it last minute at HIN and thought nothing of it. On the 35 mi. drive home, it was fine. Even hit full boost on the highway to show off a couple of times. Then about a half mile from home, CEL came on and car went into limp mode. Had no idea why until I pulled into my driveway and saw the temp needle pegged. Overflow line to the tank was messed up so when the radiator cap opened, coolant still couldn't escape. So if the line is pinched, it could take time to cause any issues. Still curious as to why the car wouldn't start though. It should start, just not drive very well.
