Grinding/Screeching Noise When Turning Left

Hi All,

Looking to be pointed in the right direction and figured I'd ask here instead of getting ripped off at the Stealership. I just did a brake job on my 07 FX35, new pads and rotors (Powerstop kit). I wore the brakes in properly per recommendations from threads here and it has since been 200+ miles. I've noticed a high pitched screech with slight grinding noise when turning to the left, appears to be coming from the front driver side wheel. I thought I heard something before the brake job but now it's really noticeable. I can't reproduce the noise any other way I turn or backup - just when turning to the left, it seems to get louder the sharper I turn. At any speed also. Nothing else seems to be effected - I don't feel anything in steering wheel. What should I look for?

The only thing I came across on here that stands out is a wheel bearing.

Thanks everyone!

You may want to take a look at the backing plate behind the rotor. If any part of that plate touches the back rotor or very close to the rotor, just stick screwdriver in between the plate and rotor and pry it apart a bit. It that not the case, the hub bearing will be the suspect.

Definitely with the others on the back plate behind the rotor. I had this same noise recently. When I swapped to my winter wheels I stuck a screwdriver in there, as mentioned above, and just pried the plate a little further out in a few places. Mine was touching near the side of the rotor facing the read of the car. Noise has not been back since.

I think you guys got it! Looks like it was slightly bent inward rubbing against the rotor. I turned the wheel outward and was able to get a hand and pull it back out. I'll be able to tell for sure on the commute to work tomorrow.

Thanks for the tips all, love this site for the endless amounts of knowledge! Sometimes we need someone to point out the obvious :)
