Hello,
i had a very bad situation, where my vehicle was in an underground parking. We had plenty of rain and the whole parking got flooded. So my 2009 50S got submerged in water around half of the windows. when the water went out (12 hours later), the car was totally dead. im planning to tow the car to insurance company, they will estimate if the car can be fixed or considered totally damaged.
however, i have a problem towing it from the underground parking. i know the shift lock will put the gear to Nuetrual. but how can i unlock the steering wheel.

really need some help ..

thanks,
Mohamed

Should there a be a hole on the shifter boot that you need to stick a key into it to unlock the shifter like any other car that I have seen? I know there is on on the 1st Gen.

I think he has the shifter figured out, but looks like his steering wheel is in locked position. 1gen you can do it with mechanical key, but not sure about 2gen ...

thank you guys, i dont know if the tow truck can fit in the underground parking. but shifter figured out ,, but steering wheel not yet.

Use vehicle dollies. Tow trucks has them. Jack up the wheels one after another while inserting the dollies.

May not be enough head room to flat bed it out of underground parking.

+1 my old apartment basement parking in NY has this issue.

Man this just sucks. Sorry for the water damage, never a good thing for a vehicle especially when the water was up that high on the electronics. Personally I'd push for the total.

+1... also another factor to consider is the potential mold. Thats going to be a PITA to get rid of

Any car that is submerged above the wheel wheels should be totaled. The persisting issues are way worse that let's say a car being wrecked in a car accident

Total it. I would not accept trying to fix that much damage. If water was halfway up the windows then it made it into every critical electronic system as well as all air vents. Push for the total...

Agreed, your airbag system and other safty features could be effected also, total it or moved on to another rid

Very unfortunate especially since its a pain to get the 50s where you are. What are your plans on the next ride? Another 50s?

If you want another 2009 you can buy mine ;) haha. Sorry this happened man. Good luck

Instructions are for a G37, but should be the same.
Looks like no luck on steering wheel.

Shift lock release
If the battery charge is low or discharged, the
selector lever may not be moved from the P
(Park) position even with the brake pedal depressed
and the selector lever button pushed.
To move the selector lever, perform the following
procedure:
1. Push the ignition switch to the OFF or LOCK
position.
2. Apply the parking brake.
3. Remove the shift lock cover sA using a
suitable tool.
4. Push down the shift lock sB as illustrated.
5. Push the selector lever button sC and move
the selector lever to N (Neutral) position sD
while holding down the shift lock.
Push the ignition switch to the ON position to
unlock the steering wheel. Now the vehicle may
be moved to the desired location.
If the battery is discharged completely, the
steering wheel cannot be unlocked. Do not
move the vehicle with the steering wheel
locked.
If the lever cannot be moved out of P (Park),
have an INFINITI dealer check the automatic
transmission system as soon as possible.
