Coilovers for 2nd gen

Sup fellas, I'm wondering if anybody has any experience with Ksport coilovers. I don't know much about coilovers but ran into these online was curious if they're any good. Opinions on these and any other recommendations are welcome.

I don't know much about ksport, but BC coilovers are the best way to go. When I get coils, I'm def going with BC but that's only when camber arms get made which looks like never

BC's are cheaper. PM me, I will hook you up with BC Racing or Ksport coilovers.

Jeeta very interesting in the last sentence of the first paragraph to your link it says no camber kit needed cuz it has adjust pivot blah blah. I wonder if you really won't need it. That could be a deal maker for me. Also I read somewhere that BC and Ksport are made by the same manufacturer don't know how true that is. Seems like Ksport is good from what I've read. My local speed shop is quoting for some 8 and change on that set so I'm looking at em real hard.

No camber kit needed??? That's really hard to believe

If the rear has pillow ball mount, then it will not need a camber kit. The description did not specify if that is available on the FX version though. It said, "Pillow ball top mounts in the front and rear on some applications allow you to maintain vehicle manufacturer suspension geometry design." Someone need to contact them to find out if there is pillow ball mount for the rear.

It doesn't fix the rear, that would require almost complete redesign. On the fronts, the shock bolts to the hub using 2 bolts. So if you adjust the upper pillow ball mount/camber plate, it changes the geometry. On the rear, it's just like the 1st gens and the spring and shock are separate and the shock bolts on with just one bolt on the hub. So even if it did have a pillow ball mount on top, it would do nothing. If you adjusted the shock on top, it wouldn't change the angle the suspension travels through since it's still just pivoting on the bottom.

Look at the actual camber arms they make. Those actually bolt onto the lower area by the hub and pull or push it out to change camber. So it's the same as BC/Megan. Camber bolts move the lower arm as well.

FWIW, K-Sport is made in the same factory as D2 which is down the street from the factory that makes BC/Megan. It's why they all basically look the same.

Now there's somebody who sounds like they know their ishhh. Now in English please...what does the change of geometry do to the car? And how would this type of setup affect our fx's? Please excuse my newbness to the subject

Sorry, I should have phrased it better. When I was referring to geometry, I meant camber since it's measured in degrees. On the front, if you look at your shock, there is the top mount which is the 3 bolts you see in the engine bay on the shock towers. Then there is a lower mount which should be 2 bolts above the brake rotor which is bolted to your steering knuckle/wheel hub. Since there are two bolts on the bottom, the steering knuckle is locked to whatever angle the strut itself is at. So if you have a pillow ball mount and can slide the top of the shock back and forth, it will change the angle of the shock. This will in turn change the angle of the steering knuckle/hub which will change the angle of the wheel and that is how camber can be adjusted.

On the rear, the shock is mounted a little differently as the spring and shock are separate. But if you look closely, the shock only attaches to the wheel hub area with one bolt. So the angle of the shock has no effect on the angle of the hub and wheel. Even if you put a pillow ball mount there and adjusted it, nothing would happen at the hub because the shock would just pivot at that point behind the brakes, they are not locked together like the front. That's why everyone was looking for camber arms for the 2nd gen. The camber arm is just a replacement arm that mounts where the factory one does and it is threaded to allow adjustment of camber. It is pushing or pulling on the top of the hub area which changes camber.

I´ve got BC and they suprised me in ride quality. I sell KW Suspension for over 15 years now and i could have had the choice for my first Gen i would deff have taken KW. But they don´t offer a set for it. I know they do for the second Gen. But if price is also imported i gues BC would be the `best next thing` IMO.

Well, on first gens, you can get camber bolts for rear if you want to get back into spec. But on 2nd gens, there is no camber kit so your camber will always be out of spec.

And BC quality is pretty good overall, but they are still budget coilover. It cannot compare to KW, but KW is much more expensive. If KW made coilovers for the FX, I would buy them over the BC any day. I love the KW's on my BMW, I tolerate the BC's on my FX because it is the only option.
