Dash install question

Has anyone installed their own dash. My dash is starting to bubble in different places. Unfortunately, I am not able to have it repaired under warranty due to FX's age. The dealership quoted at $1200.00 for installing a new dash. However, I found a new dash for $750 on an online Infiniti part website. I looked over the service manual and noticed that the job seem easy enough. So I may tackle the job myself.

I don't recall anyone other then John (Turbocad6).

Can't imagine it would be difficult; other then having an extra pair of hands to maneuver it out and in of the cabin. Be sure to take lots of pics and post them up. It would be interesting to see.

It shouldn't be too bad, just tight and time consuming. I've never done the FX, but I've done a few other cars. Last one I did was a TSX and other than being upside down a lot, it wasn't terrible. I've seen the FX diagrams and it doesn't appear different from most other modern cars. It will be a little tight around the airbag and air ducts as most modern cars are. Maybe pull the front seats, I've always done that to get more room to work and it will make getting the dash out of the car easier.

Yup gee is right. I took photos along the way but not enough to post a DIY. Ill post the pics later. Took my mechanic friend and I 8 hours. Not an easy job but the result is worth the effort. My box is full so ill post pics up tomorrow

Wow, I can't believe your old dash cracked up so bad. Very nice, you have saved a big bunch of $$$. :good:

Holly smokes, I've seen pix of bubbled or cracked dash boards but like Andy said, this was probably the most severe one ever. Mine just cracked in 2 additional spots. What a difference. You did a great job!!

That's what I'm afraid is happening to mine with the Cali sun ... even though I condition it and keep the sunshade on when parked outside the heat is a huge factor.
