Hi everyone. I have discovered that the lower portion of the factory air box can be unclipped at the bottom rear portion of the air box, which gives the air filter access to colder air from underneath the car. I replaced all my upper air box pieces I removed and gave the new mod a shot and must say that is great. I believe my first mod reduced my horsepower due to pulling in hot engine bay air, but still gave a quick throttle response. The new mod seems to only pull cooler air and still by pass the bottle neck of the front air scoop, and my FX seems to have a quicker throttle response and more power. I will add pics when I remove the air box again, but the mod is simple: just use a flat head screw driver to pull back the holding tabs on the rear bottom portion on the air box and remove it. The filter still sits enclosed in the upper portion on the box. I guess the bottom section is a type of resonator that is attached to the air box. A cheap mod that works for the older FX45 for anyone interested.
