Transmission fluid

Hi, I am going to be replacing the transmission fluid on my 04 FX35 shortly. Now, I called the dealer and said they want 12.99 for the Type J(S) fluid. I think that price is a bit ridiculous so I went online and found the idemtisu type j fluid.

Is it okay to replace the tranny fluid with the idemistu type j fluid, or stick with the OEM fluid from nissan. How much quarts is it for a drain and fill?

hi bro, i use redline d4 for my tranny...best stuff out there...have never used nissan tranny oil ever...
 
Matic J and S are just made for Nissan by Castrol I think to meet JASO A1 standards, its not special fluid. Ive been running Mobil1 full synthetic which meets the same standard with no issues.

And for a standard drain and fill, its a little over 4 quarts.
 
Castrol are the ones who made matic s/j

Redline d4 is a very good fluid for Nissan cars.

I've used both on my past 3 Nissans and g35x. Currently using castrol import atf and matic j blend.
