I took my 04 with 124k trouble free miles in yesterday to have a bubbly dash replaced under good-will (now looks great/very happy!). Upon picking up the vehicle, I learned that they did the multi-point inspection, found everything to be fine except they say that my rear sub-frame bushing is torn & leaking? Leaking what? Cost to replace $2141.61 + $129.95 for alignment!!! Obviously I declined given that the suggested repair is 20% of the vehicle value. Anyone else ever even heard of this/have this problem and or this work done? Any suggestions?

Mine has been busted for like 25k miles at least. Not sure if it happened under warranty, but I know a guy who replaces them in Z's in his garage. Not sure what he charges for the work, but I'm guessing it will still be much much cheaper than the dealer's route. Unless you notice the ride seems harsher you don't really need to worry about it.

What kind of fluid leaks out the rear subframe? Is it diff fluid?
no its the fluid, like a hyrdo fluid type bushing. I would live with it. Dealer replaced mine under extended warranty. Only time youll feel it is under heavy shifting and high speeds. If you must change it, you can always find a used rear subframe from a wreckyard

I have not done anything yet. That is what I would do if I felt the need to replace it.

Yeah the Whiteline won't work. I've been down that road. I just left it has is, and I haven't notice any issues. I would think if we get a group of people interested in Whiteline making one for the FX they will make it.

Why doesn't it work? Did it not work for you, or someone else? I'm wondering if being 45 and AWD leads to a difference.
Edit: just read the thread, sounds like it's just the bolt hole is too small, so that's not a huge deal. If I had known about this I would have bought them while at school and machined the hole out when no one was looking.

I can't remember exactly, but I believe the issue was the bolt or screw in the middle was too small. If altered it it may cause leak which defeats the purpose.
