My friend is thinking of doing a twin turbo custom made. Has anyone who put a twin turbo in their fx35 needed to do anything to their transmission? Are you guys just using the stock tranny or shift kits? Thanks for any help in advance

Stock transmission will not hold. Minimum is a shift kit from Transgo, better is a built transmission from a reputable source. If he's serious about a twin turbo, he'd better do a lot more research. I would go look at the G35 forums, that will give you a better idea of what needs to be done. There's only a handful of F/I FX's total and even fewer that did the TT.

He's not building the tranny himself. his turbo guy doesn't do tranny's so he wants to find a good tranny guy. anyone know a good shop. he's willing to ship his tranny to the U.S. he's also thinking of buying a smashed gtr and doing a swap. is that poshible. he's willing to spend the money to do it properly. the fx is his toy and he wants to do everything he can to it

money money and more money for a mod like tt

I agree. I personally wouldn' t do it but he wants to. I even suggested a supercharger but he wants either a twin turbo or just a big single turbo. The only thing holding him back is the transmission. Most shops around here that do turbos do them in manual vehicles. So he's willing to ship to get it done properly. He has a passion for customizing his vehicles. If he can find a smashed gtr for 25grand he'll do the swsp.

Look through Brad(jumbosrule) thread and you can see what he did with his fx, since he did a single turbo and had his tranny sent out to cali (I think) to have them build it up.

Thank you, i will check out that thread. He's willing to ship to Cali. He just wants his tranny done properly

Look into Level 10.
I suspect that I lot of the turbo builds on the G forums are manuals which take hp. Rookie swapped a 6MT in to harness more power.

Look around the forum, there are quite a few threads on this topic. There is not a huge aftermarket for the FX so a lot of stuff needs to be custom made.

Is jumbo a awd or rwd fx?

I haven't seen any awd systems take the power on a daily driven. I know the trans alone can take a solid 350 maybe 400 torque but the transfer case will shatter.

Jumbo is RWD and I believe he used Level10. IIRC, it started slipping at 400+ ft/lbs. Don't know of any FX's that are AWD and TT. A few SC ones.

I have the level 10 internals with another torque converter in it as well. But experiance here with similar set-ups often if the max 400-450 Whp. If you would get a build complete tranny from say speeforce racing i think they can handle some more. But the tranny will always be the issue.
Search for: "Jumbo Boost" or "Rays Boost" and you find enough info to get you going. Rookie still is the grand master when it comes to having the most experiance here with F/I set-ups. Good luck.

LOL. Your post title sound like a bad porn movie title. Seriously, I would beef up the transmission internals, and install an additional transmission cooler, because heat is going to be the biggest cause of failure on a transmission after you boost it, which will cause the weaker components to fail. Like someone posted above, the automatic is limited to how much horsepower it can handle without failing soon after a high horsepower mod, which is why the manual cars are the ones that are the mega horsepower monsters. To be honest, even they have to be beefed up as well when the start making over 500WHP.
