Oil change

So.... The local Infiniti dealer charges $95 for an oil change with Mobil one and a Nissan filter.

Another local shop charges $60 for Mobil one with an AC delco filter.

Is it worth the extra money to get the Nissan filter? Or does it not really matter?

Is there any different oil/ filters anyone would suggest for my 06 fx35, 56,000 miles

THANKS FELLAS!

Is the Nissan filter worth the $35 upcharge?
Hells no.

Is the dealer service and treatment over the local shop worth the $35 upcharge?
Maybe. Depends on the two shops and your preference.

They are both high priced IMO, but sometimes that's just the way it is. It is better to pay either of the high prices than to procrastinate and not do it at all.

I read once about oil filters, most of the brands are average including the OEM - average being good enough. It does not really add any value to put more money on an oil filter (unlike air intake filter). If it was me that is being cautious about brands, i would buy the OEM and do the change myself, saving some money out of it instead of throwing more.

Why don't you ask the local shop how much they would charge if you bring your own oil and filter or ask them how much if you bring your own oil filter and go buy a better filter

My local shop charges $20 for labor. I bring my own synthetic oil and use either Mobil 1 or Bosch oil filters.

Wow. Very low mileage.
I use K&N oil filters because you can use wrench to take it off. I use mobil-1 synthetic bought from Walmart.

DIY FTW. Had my oil changed once at the shop and was shocked at the steep price for conventional oil. Been doing it myself, Mobil 1 Extended performance + Bosch distance plus filter = $35.00

I used Mobil one with Mobil one filter because it was a package deal. Not bad for $30..... Yea I got really lucky on the milage, the previous owner must not drive much lol.

Why 5w-40? And where do I get redline?

I personally believe the motor runs quieter with it and possibly smoother. I found this out by trying German castrol. By they don't make that anymore.

Redline is normally found online because its more of a boutique oil, like amsoil or royal purple. Its pricey and not many places have it in stock. Never on sale and a buck or so above the normal stuff.
