I thought so , putting a DVD movie or something in the navigation DVD ROM under the passenger seat did not work either, this was the first thing i tried when i first bought my car.

If you have the color screen, then it is possible to push a video signal to it. You will need a module such as the NavTV one and a media player. If you don't have the rear entertainment system then you will also need an audio input module such as the PAC (I think).

I do have the colored screen but not the rear entertainment system, it sounds a lot of work than i thought. Thank you guys anyway.

If you put the car on park and engage the parking brake, you should be able to see a DVD.

If you can do this then you can add a bypass kit to play DVD while in motion.

I went to the dealer and they recommended a local audio shop.

Did it on my 2010 G37s. Will do it on my FX soon.

Paid about $200.

First gen doesn't have a DVD player up front. =(

It's possible, from what I remember, video signal from oem nav is difference from video signal from normal dvd player out put, you can get converter to make it work,
if back up camera signal can display then you may tape on to that, the thing is the OEM screen resolution suck so bad that you wouldn't enjoy what ever you
are watching. I have rear dvd entertainment and the oem screen look like crap compare to today standard like tablet and such.
