Anyone have the tent thing for the fxs

I've always been confused by these attach to car tents. What is the advantage over just putting a tent near by? I don't think you can run the car for heat or cooling since they sit at the back of the car.

Ha, I've camped with my FX and just put all the seats down and put a sleeping bag in the back. Don't see a need for the tent, but cool that they even offer it.

Yep, the car will be smoking exhaust right into the tent, so turning on the engine is not an option.

I have seen this on infinitipartsusa and was a lot of money for a tent, the only short lived advantage I can see is enjoying the car music, but then battery will die very soon. Only people who bought and used this tent might tell us something that we do not know.

With 300$ I can get a decent stand alone tent, a 1kw generator and take my JVC system for even better music.

We got the tent with the FX we bought, haven't had a chance to use it yet but it has a sleeve that connects the tent to the FX. Our service guy said ours was the first one he has seen sold in 7 years. Will post after we use it. It has a 10 x10 main room and a 7 x 6 entry area. Supposedly sleeps 5.

That is a good size, I look forward to seeing thisinstalled on your FX.

Always made sense to me, for storing things of importance or organizing, things you want dry, extra sleeping space, quieter space...... I wanted to buy one for my Landcruiser but my wife said she wouldn't sleep in it......should have bought one regardless, I'm sure we would have used it.

Yeah, post pics, I'd also like to see it in action.

I'm also a fan and almost bought one a few years ago. The main reason a didn't was because a figured that it wouldn't work well in many of the campsites I visited. Many of these more developed campground sites have an obvious parking area, table and fire pit, then obvious tent locations. These parking areas aren't always tent friendly. Then again, other enjoyable campgrounds do have sites that are better set up for the car-tent combo.
It would be a huge convenience. Not for warmth, not for music, just for the car camping shuffle.

Im guessing it hooks up to the back so if a bear or bigfoot come out of the woods you can quickly escape to the safety of your car ?

I'd stay in the tent as to keep the bear's attention away from the FX.
