Tools needed:
Screwdriver (Phillips)
trim removal tools (I didn't use any but they help removal of fender trim)

Step 1:

Open up and admire your new chrome pieces

Step 2:

UNSCREW PLASTIC FENDER MOLDING SCREWS - I STARTED FROM FRONT TO BACK
3C7DE185-3B87-45E5-8106-F27FF1DF0287-16418-00000FA311C40129_zps7dd30868.jpg

There should be I think 6 on the fender to unscrew -- may be less if you have no aero kit. Remember the one screw underneath

STEP 3:
I STARTED WITH DRIVER'S SIDE FIRST

PRY OFF PLASTIC MOLDING PIECES
if you have the trim removal tools, now isa good time to use them. I didn't use them - it just makes it easier with them.
I like to push off the painted part with my thumb and hold the plastic with my other fingers - there are CLIPS holding the trim on so pull near the clips so you do not bend the plastic out of shape.

(that red clip came off of my trim -- yours will probably come off with the trim. Either way you can pop it out and slide it back on the trim.

STEP 4

Turn car ON - Steer wheel all the way to RIGHT (We will do DRIVER'S SIDE FIRST - it's easier)
Turn car OFF
Parking brake ON (just in case! - things happen)

STEP 5:

MOVE LOWER PART OF THE FENDER LINER OUT OF THE WAY -- IT IS FLEXIBLE SO DOES NOT NEED TO BE COMPLETELY REMOVED - YOU JUST NEED TO SQUEEZE ONE ARM IN THERE.

STEP 6:

Reach an arm in there -- easier to put your right in and position your body at the front left corner of vehicle..
There are clips on the top, bottom, and side of the trim parts -- feel around in there and you will feel them.
Push down the clips around the fog light - the top corner one just needs to be moved towards the foglight to unclip

slowly pull on piece with your left hand while unclipping wiht your right in there. I have longish arms so was able to do this. if you can't reach, I'm not sure what to tell you - you may have to take more pieces of trim off to reach, or do this on a lift.

(THIS IS ALSO A GOOD TIME TO CHANGE OUT FOGLIGHT BULBS OR INSTALL HIDS)

STEP 7:

Take your new chrome piece, and simply clip it into place - wiggle it a bit afterwards to ensure all of the clips have engaged.

...

STEP 8:

REPLACE PLASTIC TRIM. Start with fender liner, make you you snap every clip back into place - remember towards top of fender there is a flap for the screw -
i did back towards front, then reinstalled aero piece.

You're halfway there. Have a beer.

STEP 11:
MOVE LOWER PART OF THE FENDER LINER OUT OF THE WAY -- IT IS FLEXIBLE SO DOES NOT NEED TO BE COMPLETELY REMOVED - YOU JUST NEED TO SQUEEZE ONE ARM IN THERE.Reach an arm in there -- easier to put your LEFT in and position your body at the front right corner of vehicle..
There are clips on the top, bottom, and side of the trim parts -- feel around in there and you will feel them.
Push down the clips around the fog light - the top corner one just needs to be moved towards the foglight to unclip

slowly pull on piece with your right hand while unclipping with your left in there.

(THIS IS ALSO A GOOD TIME TO INSTAL NEW FOGLIGHT BULBS OR HIDS)

STEP 12:

CLIP NEW CHROME PIECE INTO PLACE - wiggle to ensure all clips are set.

STEP 13:
REPLACE PLASTIC TRIM. Start with fender liner, make you you snap every clip back into place - remember towards top of fender there is a flap for the screw -
i did back towards front, then reinstalled aero piece.

STEP 14:

DOUBLE-CHECK THAT ALL PLASTIC MOLDINGS LINE UP AND ALL SCREWS ARE IN

STEP 15:
YOU ARE DONE!

WOW! Big thanks again Jordan on the DIY. You are a great asset to the Infiniti crossover community. I can't remember anyone posting 2 DIYs that detailed that close in date within each other. :congrats:

Just giving back to my online community. Plus finals are coming up so I'm enjoying the nicer weather now before I'm cooped up inside all day.

Great write up J!!

Just a side note, I posted a video in the DIY section about swapping the bulbs and accessing the back of the fog light housing from under the car by removing the fasteners across the bottom of the front bumper. IMO its easier than removing the fender moldings and probably less nerve racking for those worried about breaking clips. Despite what some have said there is plenty of room going in from the bottom to access the rear of the fog light housing.

https://www.infinitiscene.com/searc...-bulbs-HID-s-WITHOUT-REMOVING-FENDER-MOLDINGS

Hopefully this adds to your DIY by providing an alternative entry point for some.

I really like how those look. Thanks for the idea. What body kit do you have? It looks great. Got any pics of the back bumper?

Is that the same way to replace the fog bulbs? (Hope not!!)

Somewhat, yes. ;) some can squeeze in through the front but other larger people need to remove inner wheel well to access them more easily. takes 15 min a side
