Hi guys, Would like to know if the Mishimoto racing thermostat would be a benefit to my Stillen supercharged FX35.
I already have a thermostat that opens up at 68 degress compared to the stock which opens up at 76.5oc..The mishimoto racing stat opens up at even lower..62oc..Would that be better or worse for my engine..Did hear that 62oc is too low to open up but reviews says it will benefit the engine as coolant will flow quicker..Any opinions or suggestions would be welcomed..Thank you..IS the best site in the world!!

No real advantages. Once you're up to operating temperatures, the thermostat doesn't realy do anything. A lower opening thermostat can actually cause your engine to take more time to warm up since it will open sooner (before the engine hits normal operating temp). This is obviously not good for the motor since that's when most engine wear occurs, before the car warms up. The only argument for a thermostat like this is that it supposedly keeps the engine cooler by opening at a lower temp. Problem is that if your engine is running hot, it's going to keep running hot. The thermostat doesn't control the maximum temperature, only the minimum.
