New SAVINI Wheels in progress for Ray

So with my engine build still in full effect en version 2.0 going on right now i kinda had mixed feelings when i sold my wheels last month to a customer.....money whise mostly :eek.:....... I painted the front face of the spokes wich normally were polished in the new color of my car but he kinda liked it on his black FX45.
I had them for some years now and with being a wheel guy i was always used to having new wheels on a frequent basis. But i gues that was easier on my prior car ( Audi S4) then on my current one not being sold that much in the Netherlands.

I knew that when i bought them at the time, so went for a design that was timeless and now looking afterwards even ahead of its rivels with now Concave wheels being "the" trend. I still love them very much and think they are great looking but its time for something new.

For those who don't know what wheels i drove.....talking about the Gianelle Spidero's Matt Black in 10.5 x 22 all around. Love the 285-35-22 BF Goodridge G-Force tyres as well. They stretched very nicely on that size wheel.

With performance in mind and 3-piece wheels being the ultimate in the wheels bussines i got my eye on Savini Forged wheels since i saw them for the first time at the Sema Show in Las Vegas 2008. See: www.saviniforged.com
I like their style wheels and they were one of the first introducing concave style 3 piece wheels. Having over a choice of 40+ styles it was difficult to choose. But saying says that your first choice often is the best one, i fell in love with their SV8c design. number 8 meaning they having this model for a while now but i love the simplicity of the 5 spoke with the floating spokes next to it.
The fact that you can order everything custom as you want it really gives you the upportunaty to personalize the wheels towards the overal design of the car. In my case....stealth looking with all matt black and some details in the color of the car.
Now this was kinda difficult cause i am a sucker for those nicely shinny forged rims and wheels, but having made all the chrome details of my FX in matt black, i just couldn't put any shinny rims om my car.

Another reason for choosing 3-piece wheels outter then performance wise was stumbling on to a new Tyre size for Continental in a already excisting size 335-25-22 ( Pirelli).
I saw them on a tuning show under a BMW X5 and really liked the stance of them on the wheels.I asked for the wheel specs and found out he had a 12 x 22 on the back of his X5. This size is not for sale in many one-piece wheels. Especially casted....

So went for the next set-up after messuring the FX's posibilties and brakes:

Front: 10,5 x 22 with 295-30-22

Rear: 12 x 12 with 335-25-22

My rear fenders are rolled and i have the BC coilover kit so i should be fine with these specs on my OEM Body.

Here some pictures of my old and new wheel:

Nice wheels. Wow, 335.25.22 tires!

Thanks.....yeah really like that size. Not something you can put under a "normal" car. I am not the first one here driving them. We all know Rookie has them also, but i am trying to squeez them under the OEM body, i gues that will be the first.

Cool, can't wait to see how they turn out. I've been debating 12" wheels in back for a while now, it would be great to see how they fit on a non widebody.

He sold them to a customer Ed.

Haha i thought i might be too much text for some

Thanks guys, very eager to see how they will fit as well. Production time is about 3-4 weeks and then i will air freight them to me. So in the end i will be looking at 5-6 weeks. Gives me the time to start saving for the tyres :smile (2):

I also purchased a TPMS ( Tyre Pressure Monitoring System ) trough the internet. It's a kit wich has a little display wich fits into the lower left Nissan dash buttons ( see attached picture ). I messured it and unfortunatly it's not the same size as our FX but that didn't stop me before so we will modify what is possible. My prior TPMS kit contained a big "box" were i could never find a good spot for. So i thought i try this one out this time.....

Nice wheels Ray. Old & New.
SEMA 2013? :good:

Yeah i agree both are killing. And honestly i am normally not a 5 spoke guy, especially on a big car with big wheels, but with those floating spokes it looks more solidt.
Maaaannnnn i wish i can hit vegas end of the year, but with this projekt still not being finished and bussines is still slow i think i won't do the US this year. Would be the first time since 2004 for me. I'm hoping to go to florida next year, haven't been over there yet and very eager to see.

Florida is nice. Take a drive down to the keys. Just be aware of the sometimes unruly crowd down there at Key West. They get angry if you're with a woman. No disrespect to orientation, but it's the truth & it's just rude. The resorts are more or less safe for couples.

they finally arrived and looking good. color match is perfect. ordered the tyres yesterday so can't wait to put it all together :)
still have to take care of the engine first but that doesn't take long anymore either......
