07 FX35 sport Jumpy and bouncy tach, what gives??

jumpy tachs (or other gages too, but most noticeable in tach because of the fast transitions) are almost always going to be caused by a defect in the actuator itself, which is the driving motor for that gage, which means the only way to really fix it is to replace the cluster. if it's not so bad I'd just leave it unless you happen to have an extended warranty or something

i figured that... i gotta check to see if the dealership covers it.. the fx i bought just had the dash replaced.. could it be a possibility that they damaged it while doing the work on the dash

really there is no way they could have affected this by changing the dash pad. these actuators work by having the center part of it(the gauge needle and needle carrier) just about floating with a very slight spring return, so the electrical part of the "motor" is very weak... once these things get even slightly less that free floating(time and wear) then they kind of "stick" in places... this is what gives the jumpyness...
