Hey guys,
I did this a month ago, but finally just got the pics from the track. Time to share
In a nutshell
Was a charity event for type 1 diabetes in combination with a client appreciation day that I was invited to by a close friend. My regular Sunday drive buddies were all there. The event raised $24K+. Some heavy hitters were there ($$) including a Nationwide driver, Ryan Reed, who is also type 1. Amazing kid.
That track is really tough. Somewhat technical, so I think I did OK for first time out. I ran 40 laps throughout the day. My Best was a 1:56.XX @ something like 80 mph & I saw 115mph on the straight. The 22's didnt help the matter much, but had to run with what I've got. Fastest Lap by another driver: 1 minute 35.5 seconds in a 2012 Ferrari 458 @ 94 mph average . . so 20 sec. off from that isnt too bad. Nice thing about the FX was how willing it was to run. While most everyone was plagued by some issue, especially heat. Whether the engine, tires or brakes, . . I was able to keep running those guys had to rest their cars. I was labeled the energizer bunny
I also let an instructor who was on hand to help, take a spin in it. He had never driven the FX. At first he commented on the weight, but by the end of lap one, he was getting into it. Keeping up with one of the P911s in the twisties. The guy was very skilled. He said, "this isnt bad for a grocery getter . . I like it
Good power on the bottom & very balanced"
My tires saw some wear though, especially on the left front. The track is pretty abrasive. I was initially worried, but my stock brakes did just fine. Track is very fast & there are only a few hard braking areas. I flushed & bled with ATE dot 4 before the event. GT spec really helped the chassis, & roll was minimal. Overall, a really fun day and I met my goal . . which was keeping it on the track and out of the dirt.
Enjoy the pics!
