Just purchased 2007 FX35...what service should I do?

I just purchased a 2007 FX35 AWD. It has 75k miles on it and seems to be in excellent condition. I have an extended warranty on it, but plan to own it for a VERY long time. I have limited insight into the service of the vehicle, so I need some advice.

What service should I do to set a baseline for the maintenance life of my vehicle? Should I just pay for the 80k mile service? Start at another service schedule of mileage? 60k?

Thanks for any advice.

Well I specifically wanted the 03-08 body style, so after months of searching for the one i wanted, I actually purchased this at Volkswagen dealership as it was a local trade in. I purchased the extra 3rd party warranty. (probably a rip-off but I did it just in case I had a major issue.)

I have put 10k miles on it with no problems at all. I just want to get started on the long term maintenance of it. For my last car I had all the service records since the day I purchased it.

I know they changed the belts, did an oil change, etc. But I dont know any other specifics.

If your not sure about what services have been done I would start with changing the front and rear differential oil,and change Transfer case oil. As for the transmission fluid I would just check it and if its not burnt smelling or really dirty looking just make sure trans fluid level is good.
It might be a good idea to get an alignment and while getting alignment they could do a thorough suspension inspection.

Either call or take it to an Infiniti dealer giving them the VIN. If it has ever been serviced by a authorized Infiniti dealer they wil have the computer records of what has been done and when.

Welcome to IS! If the dealer is not able to provide a detailed history, then I would perform the 80K full service soon out of piece of mind, if you plan on keeping it for a long time.

Ha, I wonder who that was. :smile (2): Can't blame the guy, he after what works best for his family. :good:
Oh and guess who took over this beautifully modded FX?

Imagine if you did find it on the VW lot! That's too much of a gem to be sitting on a used car lot.
I think dealers usually take the trade in and sell and trade them around, so who knows if if was actually traded in at that dealership or picked up at auction.

I bought mine just recently...wanted to do all of the service myself so I knew it was done correctly.

-Both Diffs
-Transfer case
-2 - 4 quart trans fluid swap
-Plugs
-Power steering fluid (smell yours, may smell burnt). Cycled through 2 quarts already.
-Coolant
-Oil cooler O-Ring (had a small oil leak)
-Bleeding brakes (Coming soon)
-Gatorback belts coming soon also

The maintenance section of the service manual outlines the maintenance required in details and intervals, I suggest you start from there. It also provides the how-to.

I bought an '05 about a year ago and noticed it was shifting somewhat slowly when from reverse to drive but a transmission fluid flush solved that pretty quickly.
