Gas tank fill up issues?

I'm new here and had my fx for a full week. WHenever I tried to fill up my gas tank it clicks before it is actually full. I had this issue with my g but it was my fuel pump gasket and I smelled gas whenever I tried to fill it up...so it was an easy fix. This is different....no gas smell or leakage. In addition, my mileage computer ranges from 313-414. It really doesn't bother me just want to know if it is an easy fix.

thanks for the quick reply but I think my gauge is reading correctly ...I'm unable to fill up completely. Plus if I do this would it be wise to go ahead and purchase that rubber o-rings that lye underneath the sending unit and fuel pump cap. I caught hell trying to get that oring in when installing a fuel pump on my g

Your original post said that you fill your tank up until click before it actually full. So you're looking at the gas gauge inside the car and it not full, correct? If so your gauge is bad. DIY will fix this problem. There nothing stopping the gas from flowing into the tank unless its completely full. The click at the pump was caused by the gas pressure trips the safety tripper on the pump. Your tank is full, but your gas gauge still not showing its full. Your gauge gas gauge is the problem.

I have done this fix on my FX35 many time and have not had any problem with the o-ring. I'm pretty sure your gauge is wrong. This seems to be a problem with some of the FX. My 03 FX35 has this problem, my 03 FX45 don't.

Unless the OP is referring to the problem of certain pumps clicking off before the tank is actually full. I have run into this numerous times and found pulling the nozzle out a few centimeters has helped.
