Ok. I've decided it's time to paint the calipers. They are just too important to not get some kind of special treatment on the car :)

I can't decide between the red or yellow color. What do you guys think?

Red please :smile (2): ! I'm looking into getting mines painted soon too !

Something in the red family, a crimson red would look badass.

Sounds like I should have added the purple option!

I think I'm leaning towards red. The only thing that might hold me back is that it's the most common color (well for painted calipers). But I'll think on it a couple days.

Anyone have any experience with painting? Normal powder coat is all you need?

High temperature spray paint will work also.

It sounds like the cop-out way but it actually works really well, lasts a long time and is wayyy cheaper and easier than powder coating.

I painted the calipers on my Pickup and drove it for 90000km before selling it and they still looked really good (could have used another coat at that point, but still looked well from a couple feet away).

Put in your vote guys so he can see it at glance. :smile (2): Red is way ahead!

for my taste I think the yellow or the red, either could work well, but if I was going to really custom paint them I think I'd go with a little blend of both and wind up going with a medium golden bronze metallic. kind of like starting with a golden yellowish metallic and then adding some red to that. it would compliment the body color and pick up off of it with both being metallic earth tones and with the calipers being a bit of a darker tone than the body color will also compliment all the black trim and black interior. to me it would look much more custom and classy than just a bright red or yellow.

I am in the same exact boat as you. I really want to paint the calipers on our FX and am debating between red or the yellow from the AMG Carbon Ceramic Brakes.

Yeah I did a bit of research regarding the painting. I guess there are two schools of thought on it. There is a quick half-ass way to do it and that's to paint it with high-heat while they are on the car itself. But then you risk overspray and stuff. And then there is the correct way to bleed the brakes, take them off, powdercoat and re-install. One way costs about $250. And one way costs about $1500. Since this is a lease, I think I may just go the simple route. I spoke in depth to Elite Coatings out on Long Island and they said they could do either method for me. Probably gonna take the car there in the next couple weeks or so...
