Been reading and hearing about a lot of break-ins where the thieves gained access by prying off the part of the drivers side door handle that covers the key hole to trigger the windows rolling down. I know some members were replacing the drivers side escutcheon with the passanger side escutcheon on the Gen 1. Any luck with a fix for this problem on the Gen 2?

I think it's if you use a screwdriver and plug into the slit then turn it, the windows will roll down.

Already tried it and it doesn't work. The cover is a part of the whole locking mechanism and doesn't work.

Ive done this to my car. Like Fire0nic3FX says, it will not cover over it. You will have to replace it. The cable will have to be removed from the Escutcheon and taped inside the door itself, then you can instal the other one.
Was it a difficult diy?

Yeah it is BS!! There has to be a way to disable this feature.

Not difficult at all. One screw and it lifts off the body.
