I've read quite a bit on the transgo shift kit and headers on the forum, I think its time to pull the trigger on one of these.
If you guys had a choice between buying the shift kit or the stillen ceramic headers, which one would you go with as your first choice, performance/$ value wise.

All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Tchuck can comment on the headers with regards to effectiveness on the VQ35. The Shift kit is a great mod in that it feels great and is a bit less expensive than the headers but it doesn't effect power output.

^ I agree. I think headers would be more effective performance wise, but will really cost you. Transgo is really nice, but in my opinion, getting any and all power mods out of the way first is my preferred way to go.

I think it all depends on what your longer term goals are?

If you want to go full bolt on mods & tune, then I say go for the trans mods first. The trans mods will be good through whatever mods you do for power. If you plan to do both headers and the trans mods eventually, then it doesn't really matter - do whichever one you are more excited about.

Same thing as the guys above. $120 vs $500+.... But what I hear, shift kit is awesome with paddle shifters... :vader:
Shift kit good all around... auto, manual-stick and paddle shifter :smile (2): Can't go wrong with shift kit!

I cant think of any situation in which I would opt for the headers over the shift kit. Power shmower, the transgo is WAY more noticeable a mod.

Anyone here do a header job without tweaking the motor up or pulling it?

I helped a friend do one and it is not a fun/easy task at all. We were able to do one side in about 8 hours. Busted knuckles and all. I didn't care to come back to finish the job. He finished it like two weeks later, never did ask him how long he took.

I would easily get a shift kit over this mod. Also if u plan on boosting, I think headers negatively effect it somehow... I read something on my350z about not being able to boost as high.

As for headers, between Stillen and DC what are most choosing? Ceramic or SS? I move between two cities yearly (theyre about 22hrs apart) therefore the FX does hit the road a few times a year where i'm driving 10 hrs straight (with maybe 1-2 stops for gas), would having the SS headers be of concern? I don't want to be worrying about the ceramics cracking on me either?

I did pick up the shift kit, just need to find someone to install it now.

Where in Ontario hou from? Please share a place if u do find A place!

North York, easy to spot me since I'm rolling around with a Manitoba plate. I'll call a couple places, some of the other Ontario guys told me to check out a shop in Newmarket, when I get a chance i'll show them the actual kit...i'll let you know if I find someone, just busy with school for the next couple of weeks.

 As matter of fact, I'm planning a trip out west first week of July, but wasn't planning to travel with the tool box though.
