Walked my sister-in-laws husband through a first gen FX purchase. Set him up with some Paradas (loves the ride that much more) he went in for a major service and his right headlight igniter/ballast is toast. I haven't seen or heard much of that happening. Price - They want 450.00 for the assembly and 180.00 for the install. He is not a car guy by any means and I am attempting to help him out from across the country.

Is the ingniter hardwired? I am tempted to just say "do it" but the frugal side of me is having a hard time with this. I know anything having to do with our head lights is never inexpensive.

The igniter is not hardwired, but you need to remove the ballast in order to take the igniter out of the housing.

Excellent. So remove ballast, replace igniter.....Thanks gentlemen, little to no experience with our headlight assemblies. Going to make a member out of this guy!

Sent him site data with the promise of a happy ending......... What's great about iS is that it is a full service site from basic small DIY's that provide savings to projects a bit more extreme that can leave your checkbook writhing in pain :)

He ended up paying $79.00 for new. He's in Boston, interesting guy sells high end cutting edge optical equipment to doctors.
